This doesn’t even really apply anyway. Each tire manufacturer and tire size is different then the numbers on the tire.

My 285/70r17 are taller then my friends 3312.5r17 mickey mtz. His have a few more km. But parked beside, its a noticeable different. So his measure maybe 32 on the jeep.

Yep if you look on the pages for each tire they're all different.
    A 285 70 17 duratrac is 33" yet a 285 70 17 ko2 is slightly smaller

    Even the 255 80 17 st Maxx I believe is 32.9"

In my experience the width resulted in ABS freaking out at highway speeds when breaking was applied, after we swapped to a same size on all 4 wheels issue was gone.
Note, with the different width, the diameter will also be different by 2-5%.

why dont you just run the skinnies on the trailer and the bigger ones on the truck? less rolling resistance while pulling the trailer. If you have 4 of each, you can have a spare. Plus the 255 is a better spare for the 285 then the other way around.

so 285's on the truck, run a 255 as a spare for the truck. Then 2x255's on the trailer with a 255 as a spare....

Some guys went with the 255 as a spare as it fit in the stock location a lot better than the 285....

^More trimming required to clear 285s in the front. :notsure:

Thats exactly why I haven't gone the 285 route. That plus the 4 st maxx cost me $400

It's been proven scientifically that 255s > 285s, so 285s are mostly for looks. Notice how army vehicles run skinny tires as well.

This is why I went with them in the first place. Too bad there isn’t a larger skinnier tire available that isn’t a mud tire.
10” compared to 11.5. Big difference when you consider the differences between a 265 and 285 in height.

Lots of military tires are tubed as well. One of the guys I went off road with last season had some military tube tires on his ranger, with out tubes in them. So he could not air down. Brilliant.

Not only that but they are not all terrain and/or they are dry cracked and really for off-road use only. Looked into the interco 36x9.5 but for the price the 315’s were a better option.

The super swampers we have on our humvee's are definitely larger than 10" wide. Pretty sure they're 37"s on 16.5 rims

Well those vehicles are meant for muddy/tundra terrain that you guys have up there. Not a rock climbing.

The humvee’s are on 37x12.5 I believe. There are some of the old style Jeep ones that are on the 36x9
