What must sees should I look for? Maze overlook, Golden Stairs? Driving from KY there in Sept so I've been gathering as much info about some of these stops along the way as I can!

OP, I don't know if you have seen the app RoadTripRyan but there is a whole lot of great info about different places in Utah.. Pretty sure Canyonlands is on there too.

Two big ass rivers in your way.

That said, you could make your way south easily on almost all dirt to Hite and then cross the Colorado then get right back on dirt through Bear Ears and head east then north to Canyonlands. drive around through there and then take Lockhart to Moab.

Lots of roads you can hit. I've mapped out a route like that basically and done a route like that once already. You'd hit maybe 100 miles of highway total.

Thanks for the info! I'll probably be speeding 2 days in the Canyon so as long as I can make it through there a day, camp night, and to Moab the next day, I could swing some more time probably if its worth seeing!

95 south for sure is more interesting and scenic.

Stop by natural bridges, or take a detour through the Bears Ears.

Cool deal. Care to share the info? I have the route mapped and would like to stay on as many site seeing backroads as possible!

Hmmm, probably not that much. I have 18 days from KY to hit CO, Northern AZ, Utah and back. 2 days to get out there, 2 days to get back. I may change my route and not see Capitol Reef but try to find a route from Peek A Boo/Escalante then directly East through hwy 95 that you all are talking about taking. I see there is a ferry that takes you across Lake Powell at BullFrog Marina to hwy 276 that I can get onto HWY 95 on, anyone know anything about that, sounds like that would be a cool experience.

    I'll pm you later

I actually think I take Burr Trail Road from Boulder all the way East to Canyonlands. That sound like a good road to take? lol

Yup BLM 1200 then 1300 I believe (that's if I take the continue East path) I took Burr Trail then turned north with my initial mapped trail.

Awesome news, that makes me feel like I got a little planning correct!

If Peekaboo is on your list, definitely do not change that, one of the coolest things I have ever done. You are basically doing the trip (that section) we did last year backwards. Highly recommend the ferry as well, shouldn't have issues with their schedule if you are going in the summer but as always check before you go.

Perfect timing on this thread. I'm planning a memorial weekend trip to the same area. I'll be watching this thread closely.

Plan for it to be busy during Memorial Day weekend. I was there at that time in 2013 and there where people everywhere. I think half of Salt Lake City had headed to Moab for the holiday weekend.

My trip mapped minus Havasu and will decide on burr trail road around the south side of canyonlands or around capitol reef and up.
