But skip plates are made for "skidding" not stopping. Skid plates are built to skid on things

 

Technically on the pictures below there is distinctly a bumper AND skid plate. The "bumper" is not really made to contact anything, at any point, unless you are nerfing people. The "skid plate" is absolutely designed to contact objects when approaching, or lawn darting, or rocks, or whatever. Its design is to protect the suspension and frame from impact.

Deciding what angle is enough is debatable, but if you guys are putting "bumpers" under the front of a LT truck something is wrong

 

Also, I should add that I do not live within 1000 miles of a sand dune, so any sand dune type problems don’t apply to me lol

It also helps cut though deep snow. Kind of like how a boat cuts though water.

EDIT: It's also the reason why I plated behind the tube of the bumper. Snow would pack into the sides.

 

Partly what steered me to bamf was pat at tc. He has the same mid travel sua rear and he did similar to the bamf kit to achieve the 12 inch shocks.

Had that I did this later on though, I would have probably went with the archive set up as it’s cleaner, but their kit is made for soa apps as well.

 

The archive kit mounts the the shocks much higher than the bamf kit. The bamf kit mounts the shocks much closer to where the tc kit mounts the shocks and the TC kit is set up for 10” shocks and sua. The bamf kit is perfect for soa setups it keeps the shocks lower which keeps them in closer to the frame. Once you start going up higher it makes it tough to fit 2.5’s without using wheel spacers

I can see your argument although tc strongly recommends spacers last time I checked with pat before my install. Considering that most of the users go with the archive kit for their soa I still don’t really see too many gains here for the tc mid travel set up.

I think they max around 13" with shackle flip or Hammer hangers. My shock relocation towers can fit a 2.5x14" under the bed https://archivegarage.com/products/taco-shock-relocation
