I've decided to get out of the suv thing and into a pick-up....I like the Tacoma size and quality. I have a question for this blog......what are the differences between the TRD and SR5 4x4's. I have a good deal on a SR5 auto 4x4, and would like to know if this can be truly driven as a 4x4......not hill climbing but also not awd like the Honda Pilot. Thanks for any follow-up

    Welcome!

Yes it is a true four wheel drive, not all wheel drive.

    Welcome to TW

Yes you can drive it like a true 4x4.

TRD Offroads have a electronic locker in the rear. My SR5 has the limited slip in the rear.

That will probably depend on what generation truck you’re talking about. May need the tech stream software and cable to do it. I think there was a way on 2nd gen to do it by some sequence of actions. It’s on the site somewhere.

I too went from a CRV to a pickup, again. But didn't want a Ridgeline again, as I wanted a 4x4

If all else fails, remove the actual noisemaker. I did this. The sequence did not take for me. On my 15, it was near the battery, and is black, and is shaped like a little blue usps mailbox. Might be an inch and a half tall. Theres a thread in here somewhere about it.

Edit. This took care of the beep / chirp, doubt it will fix the horn toot. :anonymous:

I'm seeing the service people soon to get the "complimentary" running boards put on, I'll quiz them about the horn tooting. Also now getting a Snug Top with Yakima rails, I believe it's the Rebel.
Alex, Johathan....nice catch, you guys been up that way?......I live in San Diego, but seems like I was raised up there...started at 6 years old....dearly love the Eastern Sierra....so I assumed the handle.......been to Nicely's lately?
