Trade in you should get at least $27k. I've got a '16 as well and purchased in March of '16, only owe $24k on it. They are selling for $30k. If you can wait 'til the fall, that's when you'll get your best deal. And make sure you go to the dealer within the last few days of the month. They are always trying to meet or beat sales quotas.

Find out what you owe on your lease and either pay that or have them roll it into a new vehicle. Those are really your only 2 options if you cant wait for the lease to be up.

ah. I would stick it out it out till lease is up if i could. If not then take the 2k hit if the Tundra makes you happy and you can afford it.

much bigger! guy I work with just traded his taco in on a Tundra and that back
seat area is friggin huge! much bigger than it looks - I've had several full sized trucks
and the Tundra was pretty deceiving from the outside, I jumped in the drivers seat to
check it out when he pulled in a couple weeks ago and thought damn there's a lot
    of room back there.

Dealer is always going to low ball you! They must resell your vehicle to make profit. Sell vehicle yourself and you get your price.

yep. I owned an 99 old body style then an 07 , 10 , 12 and then 15. They are big and very roomy. Had no issues with any and loved the back window. I no longer need a bigger truck to tow and the smaller trucks are lot better just being wife and I and most I would tow is a bass boat of a friend of mines. For me now I love the parking and getting around in city and really the size of the smaller trucks even when in them now with just wife and I. But the Tundra is great truck and I loved all mine.

Never had a Tundra, had a couple Titans - loved that 1/3 of the rear window just dropped down and
a couple chevy's, the rest have been mid size. I thought about going back to full a couple times but
I do nothing with mine except it being my daily driver and every time I park next to him, I just think
holy shit :D no way I'm going back, that things a beast!

yep me too. My buddy at work just got his Tundra 2 months ago and first one he has owned. I told him leave chevy and try one. His is just sr5 with 4x4 and upgraded with electronics package. He is one now I fish with and has the bass boat and he loves it. His Chevy got 16.5 mixed and the tundra is been doing 15.5 mixed but lot better room and power. His chevy was pretty good and had 135k on it and was a 12 model. I know I sure like it but yeah im not going back to full size

O.P. No need for a bridge loan; you can just meet up with a potential buyer at the bank or finance company that holds the note on the truck, the buyer then would pay off the loan and the bank/finance company will give him a bill of sale and title voucher--then mail him the title when they get it--in Florida most new car dealers and banks can print a provisional title right on the spot...

The Taco is leased? Just look into the buyout cost if you need to get out from under it...

Take it to Carmax and get a quote to sell the truck. Then you can compare what the dealer will give you.

Op said he is getting a big boat this summer, he can afford the hit, if any due to lease. I'm surprised they won't get you into a Tundra lease with out taking too much of a bath. Besides, needs to get used to losing money as he's getting a big money pit in the summer.:poking:

It's not necessarily to "max" their profits, they're a business, they need to buy at a wholesale price, & sell at a retail price to keep the doors open. With a purchase & a trade, it can get a little messy, but a dealer still needs to make a profit on the whole deal. Are there pond scum dealers out there, you bet, but every business, car dealer, hardware store, ice cream shop, or funeral home, needs to turn a profit.

That explains why he still owes $30k after 19 months then. Lease payments are much smaller and it takes you longer to get into a solid equity position.

Trying to get out of a lease prematurely is tough. If a tundra is that important to the OP he should still buyout the lease by selling it private sale instead of trading it in at the dealer to get at least what the payoff is.

Personally I would wait to the lease is over.

this is nothing on the OP at all but he is getting a bigger boat I don't know him from anyone. But my friend just bought a new bass boat and leasing a F150 he just got to get payment down and the 60k boat is on a 15 yr note with nothing down. He is upside down in all of it
