    255/75r17 is a good tire size to avoid rubbing, less power loss and don't weigh as much compared to a 33". They sit 32" x 10".

    Offset measures the wheel mounting surface from the centerline. Backspacing measures the wheel mounting surface to the back of the rim including the lip.

    Offset is independent of the width of the wheel, whereas backspacing depends on the width of the wheel.

    I think I got it now!
    So when looking into rims to increase tire size and avoid rubbing, I would want a negative offset? Any idea how negative to go?

    The backspace I only need to know depending on how wide of a tire I'm mounting to make sure the rim can acomidate? Doesn't do much in terms of avoiding rubbing?

    Unfortunately you can't blanket it like that. A negative offset pushes the wheel out more so you would avoid rubbing on the UCA, but then you risk rubbing elsewhere like the fenders. If you're going larger than 265/75/16 - 265/70/17 you risk rubbing. If it rubs the cab mount just do the CMC, and/or trim, it's not a big deal

    wheel width is your primary figure, followed by offset.
    - when doing fitment calculations.

    Pfft that's what they say...

    I'm 4.5 back space and 0 offset and I couldn't turn without beating my pinch weld for a 285 70 17.

    There's no consistency with these trucks given I've heard guys run 285 with no trimming in the same spec as me.

    If you go anything beyond 265 assume you'll need to cut

    Just run a 265.
    If you're afraid to need to cut don't do 275 because there is no guarantee you won't need to.

    I was told i needed 4.5 back space and 0mm offset to have minimal rub like everyone is telling you. My pinch weld has now been hammered flat and body mount is being cut and I still might have issues and I'm 5mm wider per side than your 275 idea.

    And the difference in ground clearance is going to be no more than 1/4".

    Either go 285 or stay at 265

    This is a 285 70 17 Goodyear Duratrac on a 17x9 0mm offset and 4.5 back spacing wheel.
    with 3.9 degrees of caster.
    THE EXACT SAME caster, lift and wheel spec that others are saying they had no rubbing issues at all besides a little bit of plastic. Yet I had to beat pinch weld and cut body mount and still might rub on fender.

    There is no consistency with these trucks.

    If you're afraid to cut just stay away from anything wider than a 265.
    The 10mm difference (5mm per side) will not save you, so don't waste time on a 275 just get a 285 if you're willing to cut.

    Yes but any tire wider than a 265 can't be fit by lift with a guarantee you won't need to trim stuff.

    A lift is only part of fitting larger tires. As @Joe23 mentioned you are still width restricted. Again, nothing wrong with trimming. Most people who run 285's do the CMC lift or not.

    I'm putting 8" wide 0 offset wheels on when I take delivery of my 2018 with 265/75/16. Shouldn't rub, but if it does I'll just :sawzall:.

    Go 285! I went with 285/75 16. I like more meat on my tires. They don’t rub at all no cab mount chop just a lift.
