    Being a striper beach fisherman I don’t catch fish more than I catch fish.
    The beach hunt is tough..

    They’re catching in the back bays now. I was in the inlet.

    Jay, I was bouncing 4 oz lures off the bottom of barneget inlet. I was testing out new rods and reels I got over the winter for the most part. I’m also new to braid so I was getting used to it. Next weekend I’ll be using a hi lo with worms and clams in the back bays. So that’s what I meant by ready now.

    Fishing the bottom of the inlet is asking to lose your lure, I only use swimmers or top water. Not many options for fishing the back bay from land. If you get a kayak you can get to the deep holes fishing off the banks of the sedge islands. On tide changes water moves quick through there and fish will wait on the bottom for bait to go by. Otherwise your fishing the shallows.
