Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

The "double bump surge" happens when lifting - just at the point when you're transitioning from on the throttle to feather (not quite full lift). At least that was what I was referring to when I mentioned it in the M/t thread. I don't know about your symptoms, but the test tune Mat came out with either eliminated the double bump surge or lessened it to the point where it's not noticeable. You gotta understand that ANY weirdness in the throttle is very noticeable in the M/T.

I think he means the rpm rise when the AC compressor kicks in. I can feel it inside the truck and definitely hear it outside, it's quite a difference in idle RPM. Did it stock too though so not too bothered.

I've been investigating and working on this for some time. Another odd thing that happens with some trucks even stock. One user here took their truck to Toyota and they claimed it's a lag when the injectors switch, however testing that doesn't seem to be the case.

 

What the hell was Toyota thinking when they tuned this truck.

 

Are you saying Toyota service techs were wrong (or told to say something wrong by the mothership)? You don't say!?

 

With that TSB thing for the old ass ecu in my truck, the tsb is only for the shifting issues. Would they still flash the ecu or just the tcu?

 

MOST of the shifting control is happening in the ECU but if you just state that you are tired of the busy shifting and inability to hold gears and cite the symptoms in the TSB and ask for the software update (TSB printed in-hand) MOST dealers shouldn't give you a hard time. My dealer was horrible on most issues but this was ONE they did no questions asked.

 

It was probably cheaper to just neuter it into the ground than do R&D
