    same here. Pressure wash everything (outside, chassis), then use regular hose and soak/rinse the underside using the "rinse it till the water turns clear" method, then wash with soap and water. That on top of cleaning the engine bay. I hate mud.

    It's a weird story. I have gone through my fair share of them, so I have a reman Autozone unit in there now. If it poops out I just go get a new one. I did buy a used OEM one just as a spare, but I've been fine so long as I don't go romping through mud holes. It's been sitting in the garage for a long time, and I'm tired of looking at it.

    Nope... unfortunately with where these alternators are located, they are very prone to getting effed up in the mud. I usually hose mine out (while off) every time it gets muddy now. Then let it dry for a bit before driving.
    I was going to try to make a makeshift 'mud shield' out of sheet metal, but never got around to it, and now I just creep through mud holes. Even so, mine still got quite a bit of mud on it from LBL
