As has already been said, no such thing as loyalty. I was with Allstate for more than 20 years when I got hit with that rate increase. The fact that I could switch and pay less than half what I would have (and added some things like rental car and roadside and medical to boot) was more than enough reason to switch. I don't qualify for USAA, though I usually hear good things from those who do.

As for the rest of you, I'll have to keep the broker idea in mind. I've spoken to a couple before back when I made the Geico switch, and inquired about rental at the same time, and none of the companies any of them represented could do better than I was getting from Progressive or whatever at best (most were higher). It may be a different picture with a home. Or not being single (but that's not likely to change).

Geico raised rates due to "increased claims" and people "texting and driving". All the insurance companies came together and as a whole did across the board increases, which is bs. After hail claims, etc, there better be a decrease after they recoup their money. I think its interesting how they increase premiums of people affected plus others who are not. Safety courses are a good way to decrease premiums and are usually good for 3 years. I think you can get them for around $20.

Hahaha, insurance companies are just legal criminal enterprises. Instead of holding onto the profits during good times to pad for the bad times, they use that money for shareholders and the like. When bad things happen, they lobby for the right for general increases to cover the costs. They do it for home owners insurance after big storms just like auto policies. Just another example that the days of ethics, morals and common sense are long gone.

No Lobbying to it, Insurance companies can do pretty much what they want unlike Utilities who have to justify any increases, etc. Really ALL insurance companies should fall under the public Utility laws but then again, Warren Buffet wouldn't be the genius he is today if worked like this.

Good news at the new house, they actually plow the residential streets(even though there wasn't much need overnight ) The bad news, it sucks getting woken up at 12:40AM to the street being scraped :annoyed:

I just zoomed in and saw the street sign for 15th so it’s probably downtown Denver somewhere. There’s a pedestrian mall on 16th.

Nah, we're in Superior now. They plow everything, even the side walks. Yes, it has an HOA but only $231/year compared to about $400-$600/mo in most places in Cali where you get no plows
