Thanks good to know. Also, isn't the T-case only really enabled using the oil when in 4WD? Can this change gas mileage?

Tcase is always spinning. There’s no bypass to the rear driveshaft. It's engine -> transmission -> transfer case (the center differential - it's a "transfer case" because it has a low range gear set) -> driveshaft -> axle(s).

Synthetic gear fluids can slightly increase gas mileage especially in rear diff, but it will probably be unmeasurable just in the Tcase. It says trans fluid, you can use it in your Tcase, it’s GL4 too which is what you want. Keep 75W90 GL5 that has more sulphur and phosphorous in your diffs, there’s no soft metals in your diffs.

Also, I just found that Redline makes GL4 75W80 which is almost straight 75W, so this would work perfect in your Tcase.

Is GL-4 ok for T-case, I thought it had to be GL-5. I have an Auto tranny

 

The Tcase is after the transmission on both manuals and auto. From everything I’ve read, Toyota changed the spec in 2015 to GL4, a lot of people are using 75W90 GL5 in both diffs and Tcase, which is perfectly fine. But long term like 100k+ miles I’m not so certain for your Tcase.

You have an auto trans so definitely use ATF. Do not use MTL or any other gear oils in your auto trans.

That’s good maintenance might be excessive, but perfectly fine if you’re doing it yourself, it’s just the cost of the fluid.

I’ve always changed gear fluids including tranny at 60k intervals using synthetics since it’s fairly expensive fluid.

 

I'm not really sure what your referring to... But if its a real SwitchPro 9100 for $425 then yes, that a steal... (I haven't had my coffee yet)

 

I am going to do some measuring of MPGs with the Mobile-1 75w-90 I put in the rear diff and compare it to the old mpgs with stock fluid.If it still sucks I am going to switch out the mobile-1 for this Redline stuff:
