The 3rd gen has the hill decent mode where all you do is pretty much steer and the computer does the work. Also the "computer auto unstuck yourself" feature where it'll try to drive it self out of the hole in sand or whatever. I'm sure there not on all models of the 3rd gens. But I prefer to have complete control on what the truck is doing

It's much easier when you have a strong enough impact to drive the press. :p

    I have a 60 Gallon 6.2 HP 10.2 CFM air compressor and a pretty decent(ish) Earthquake impact. Didn't do a damn thing!

No shit, really? My 600 ft/lb husky knocked em out pretty easily IIRC.

Could've been I just had a harbor freight impact gun, but it was the nicer Earthquake line. I believe it was rated for 400 ft/lb. It just hammered the hell out of the press tool and did nothing.

I ended up using a giant 2 foot pipe wrench - I guess it didn't help I didn't have the steering knuckles on the truck so I had no leverage.

Yeah I didn't have mine on the truck either so if the impact didn't work I would have been SOL too. :p Definitely need to get me a HF press for stuff like that or wheel bearings.

It took me three days to do my upper ball joints. I don't know if you remember my posts on this thread during December, but it was pretty bad.

I brought it to my father's shop - and it took three of us to muscle it out. One holding the table and vice to the floor, one holding the steering knuckle, and me pulling the wrench.

I did that once, and I'll do it once more to replace those stupid upper unit ball joints with slug adapters for uniballs. Gotta get that front droop. Plus pressing shit out of both the arm and the spindle is just a hassle.

If I had to do it again I would just invest in a hydraulic press, or have a shop do it. Way too much hassle for me to use that press tool.

    Aligned and new tires.

Doesn’t rub just normal driving but when I get very flexy I sure do, which is expected.

Need to send my Kings off which should be a nice 350-400$ dollar bill..

Also need to play with tire pressure. Haven’t even checked to see what they’re at...

You might as well start trimming the inner fender now up front.

Yeah, I’m hitting the fender flare and the plastic for sure.

Gonna be a good time with a big hammer.

Absolutely no fucking way! The frame is wider on the 3rd gens and you are still stuck with that garbage 3.5L, shitty transmission and electronic throttle/hvac controls etc. Couldn't pay me to do it...

This, this is my biggest complaint. The interior is nice enough, the outside is decent despite looking like Mitsubishi Raider in the rear. But a bad trans can ruin a vehicle, and electronic throttle is just plain unnecessary, really it is, everything it does you can do with a cable and no lag. Plus if you get a manual trans one, you still have rev hang cause the electronic throttle is partially deciding what's right for you.

All where the TQ comes in. Repurposed car engine isn't the greatest choice for a truck despite looking good on paper. Plus the holy grail is the 22RE still

I don't remember it being this difficult? You are referring to pressing out the oem upper ball joints then pressing new ones in right? Maybe we just got lucky.

I'm pretty sure we used a ball joint removal tool we rented from autozone, misc sockets/extensions and a cordless impact gun.
