2wd BS and SoCal meet ups and Tacoma fun

What's up guys. I previously had my truck wired for lighting underneath my truck. Everything is tied into the dome light so when I open the door the lights turn on. Only problem is the lights were great but didn't last more than 4 months.

Any suggestions on something that's going to last and waterproof because I will be taking my boat in and out of the water all summer

Kc cylone. I use it as a dome light, but they ip68. Simple 1/4" bolt thru the center. Super easy to mount anywhere. Really bright at night.

Not 100% on this but I’ve heard that REI is one of this biggest contributors to the closure of OHV areas...

 

What?? Really? Why would they do that? That effing blows if it's true, my father probably spends more money there than anyone else on the face of the earth...I'm going to have to have a chat with him if this is accurate.

I found this Pirate 4x4 thread from several years back, looks like it's true to an extent REI has stated on numerous occasions that they only promote "muscle driven recreation" and not motorized recreation.

Given how old that thread and this topic is apparently, one can only hope that they've come around in recent years. It doesn't necessarily sound like they are actively getting OHV parks 'shut down', but it's pretty clear which side of the issue they're on...or at least were on.

 

Agreed. Just like anhieser Busch used to actively promote the burning of pot farms. Now the major beer companies are fighting to get into the weed farming game since its legal a bunch of places now.

 

If anything, this is an even bigger reason to remember to tread lightly...there are tons of people and companies out there that are against off-road driving/recreation. Just look at the comments section of any recent news articles where there's been an accident at an OHV park, citizens are usually in the comments talking about how they want the parks shut down and how "bad they are" for our kids, etc. etc.

Any time I see people leaving trash or tossing bottles on a trail I will speak up, nicely the first time but not a second time. Stuff like that gets big companies like REI against us, and they have the $$$$$$ to make a big impact if they really wanted to
