I agree with OP's mom. Plus, she raised him for 18 years.

Prolonged periods on no use has no effect on semi autos. People like to say things like springs lose power being compressed all the time, but springs only lose their effectiveness from prolonged use. A Semiauto, a revolver, or a shotgun can sit there until the end of time and if it was in working order when put down (and aside from rust from decades of neglect) it will work when picked up.

I haven't read any if this thread but a shotgun is a terrible ineffective tool forhome defense in all but the most seasoned hands. Most of those people have enough trigger time behind one they realize there are for more efficient tools than a shotgun.

The common myths that they don't penetrate walls or you can miss are just that.. myths. Untrue & anyone can easily disprove those myths themselves if they apply a little bit of effort rather than parrot sonethsom they heard from someone or online.

I'm with this guy. I really don't want to kill anyone. Unless they have fucked with my wife or kids.

In canada unless the intruder dies with a machete in their hands and you are cut up, murder charges against you will be pending .....

Yeah, you can scrape squirrel bits off the tree with a trowel, rinse off the dirt and hair, and pick out the lead and it makes a nice burger.

As for the grizzly. A 12 gauge pump filled with slugs 'might' stop a charge and save your life. But anyone who creeps within 50 yards of a grizzly and tries to harvest one with a shotgun has buffalo balls. I pack a .338 win mag BAR when I've been grizzly hunting and go for 150 yard shots minimum.

A shotgun is a Swiss Army knife tool. It can do a lot but nothing well, aside from knocking down ducks.

That’s just the night stand and under the pillow. You should see the closet, safe room, and actual safe.

To be honest, I wouldn't mind giving my house the Kevin McCallister treatment instead of buying a gun...

On the other hand, we have free health care, and you're more likely to get hit by lightening than have your home invaded.

And it's legal to bring a Nissan Skyline or Mitsubishi Delica into your country and register it for everyday use!
