I guess when I say "locking" I just mean there's a built-in drawer stop mechanism to prevent the drawer from sliding all the way out. This strikes me as particularly important for a heavy duty storage drawer in a moving vehicle that could be parked on an incline or whatnot. I don't want to unlock it to pull it out, I just don't want it sliding out of the truck on top of me.

EDIT: so when I say "sliding all the way out" I mean like on the ground out, not fully extended out. Just realized this wording might have been the source of a lil confusion.

Why have I never thought of this?! I even have those hanging chair holders that go in the hitch. Did you have to do any modifying to get them to point that far apart?

They were specifically made for a hammock. Assemble one way and they for chairs, the other way your hammock. Originally I was making a rig that would hold the hammock between my front and rear hitch with the hammock along the side of the truck. Then I found this instead.

I think the company was called hammocka.

Yep I have the hammaka chairs. I’ll have to try it with a hammock. Guess I should’ve read the instructions that came with them :anonymous:

I am sure this is in here but for lack of time searching through 40 pages of posts. Does anyone have experience with sleeping on a platform with a cab high topper? I am sure its tight but wonder if it will be too tight. Trying to decide between a platform or shelving instead. Thanks in advance!

I'm 5'5" and it's bearable, but probably not for anyone significantly taller if you plan on being able to sit on the platform.

This is my setup in a typical everyday configuration. I can slide the upper platform over to make it a full width bed if I need to. Otherwise it stays where it is so that I can utilize the driverside for large or dirty cargo.

It's not bad, its for sleeping, not hanging out. I can't sit up in it, but I survive.

Cool, thanks for the pictures. I am 6ft so I will probably end up building some sort of foldout extension as well.

I just spent 3 weeks camping in my truck. My platform rests on the cut outs ion the bed cover and very comfortable. Went to a fabric and foam store and bought 4" padding and its comfy.
Under the platform I use Cement Mixing bins to hold supplies...

I really like your setup, I'm looking to start on something this spring with the flexibility of yours. Any other pics of how you made this and how it works for doubling out to the second bed?

I just pile my shit to one side and move as much as I can to the cab. A sleeping platform with a 5ft bed doesn't seem practical.
