Yeah sometimes it’s worth paying some one and not having to worry about anything. Is that $275 just to fix the one inner boot?

That's what I ended up doing with the gas lines in my basement. So glad I didn't mess with it! It still took a pro almost 6 hours to run them. It would have taken me days!!

So once the cv is out, you’ll want to cut the most outer clamp. That’s the only thing holding that inner cv joint together. Once that clamp is cut, you can just slip off the piece. It’ll then look like this.
    9DB73753-D544-494E-9D8E-7B26D636DF97.jpg
    54758BE5-3D40-4201-A44F-CD6714D1B12B.jpg

Then you’ll need some snap ring pliers, as there’s one ring that holds that little assembly on.

Once that’s off, you’ll need a hammer and a brass punch to gently hammer it off.

Then it’s as simple as slipping the new boot on, reinstalling that little assembly and snap ring, and put the outer piece back on.

Fill with grease, clamp both clamps down, and you’re done.

That’s the basic gist of it. If you decide to do it I can give you all the little details and walk you through it.

Tools you may need to buy:
    1. Those two clamp tools
    2. Mini sledge hammer
    3. Crow bar
    4. 35mm axle nut
    5. Tie rod end separator
    6. Bench mounted vice

No problem. At the end of it you probably won’t save that much money since you’ll have to buy tools, but at least if it ever happens again, you’ll have the tools and knowledge to tackle it and save a bunch of money.

Did you take the entire hub off to remove yours or just drop the UCA nut and let the hub hang?

I removed the two LCA bolts that hold it to the spindle, and the outer tie rod. That was it (aside from the 35mm axle nut obviously).

I always topped off afterwards every time I pulled my cv out. Also you’ll want to replace the crush washer on the fill plug to the diff. Mine leaked until I put a fresh washer on. PM me your addy and I’ll mail you a few. I had to buy a 10 pack and only needed 1.

Already got my OEM boot. Going to pop it off and send it back in. I don’t think this axle needs to be re-built
