I have 265/75 16's and you are getting as good if not better than me. Backspacing doesn't help. I also have the V6

What's that have to do with anything? These types of posts are so stupid. He dropped almost 2 MPG after installing tires. He's not complaining about getting 17.5, just wondering why the drop was so big after installing the new tires.

    This guy is right.

OP, those tires do not weigh 32 pounds, and the added weight is likely what is causing your decrease in MPG. I don't have the specs off the top of my head, but I have done a lot of research for my own 4cyl AC, and an LT tire in 265 is likely 50 pounds. P rated tires are usually around 40 pounds.
You could also try a P rated tire in 265, which is what I will be doing next. I went to a 245 AT and didn't see any decrease in MPG, even though I increased tire weight by 4 pounds at each corner. Given, that did not change the size, and only weight.

OP is think too much. Your MPG is just fine. ..

    1. 2.7L
    2. Auto trans
    3. City driving
    4. Weight.. Etc...

I am stock setup. 3.5L auto. OR. City driving.
But I got canopy. So.. I totally accept that MPG.

You're looking at between 44-48 pounds per tire depending on the load rating, definitely not 32. That's the main reason for your MPG loss. I think the stock OR tire is what, 38 pounds maybe? The Sport tires are 36 pounds.

I have same size Toyo tires - 265/75R/16's in LT - the are C load range and I think weigh 42 pounds each. So, if original tires are 40 pounds each, he added 32 pounds in tires alone + any increase for wheels.

Approximately 20 mpg average, haven't done enough highway driving in it to see how high I could get (we take my wife's rav4 on road trips)

Well that's good to hear haha. I kick myself for listening to the dealer when they told me I'd have to go up to sr5 to get v6 (about 5k price jump) when I could've shopped around and found a v6 SR.

My mistake, I meant 32 psi air pressure per tire

I put a lift with 265s on my 2.7 liter and the mpgs barely changed... maybe you have 8-10 ply tires?

Details on your lift? Any loss in power? My friend won't leave me alone about at least leveling it haha

No problem. I think the weight is your issue though. You'd get better MPGs with a P rated tire.

Let me know if you figure it out though! I'm changing tires soon and don't want to lose MPGs.

I haven't done the math yet, but with the inaccuracy of the odo taken into account I'm sure I'm looking at less than 2 mpg lost due to the new wheels/tires. That's acceptable to me, I knew they would go down for sure. It's worth it because they look cool!

Yeh my odo actually gives me a higher reading because of the smaller tires so it tricks me into thinking I'm getting better mileage.

And yes they do look cool!
