Not today, but this pic shows a few things I've gotten done over the last few weeks to customize my new to me 96 Xcab for motorcycle carrying...

Beam mounted winch with remote control socket at left rear of bed. A wireless remote would be nice, but I hear they may have a slight time lag? It's a little 3,000 lb ATV Superwinch and pulls dirt bikes up real nice.
Uni strut mounted loading ramps. I added extra angle aluminium to one ramp for people steps. With the red truck color and "ladders," people are calling this the local fire truck.
Mounting location for Jerry cans. I hate the fill nozzle problem.
OME CS019R leaf springs. Truck's jacked up on the tire to measure for shocks. According to the vendor, I'm doing something wrong :crapstorm:because the Bilstein F4-BE5-D560-TO 5100 series shocks they supplied with the springs don't reach even with no extension going on. Please see my post in suspension if you know anything about mounting shocks. I need help there. The ones you see hanging with plenty of extension are worn SkyJackers. Truck is on 315 75 16 tires but that's accomplished with a body lift, so doesn't affect the shocks. Please don't flame on the body lift, it came with the truck, and I like it.

Fresh fluids including front diff, tranny, transfer case, rear diff, and power steering. I risked the pump/flush tranny juice method at 208,000 miles. So far, so good. The old stuff was nasty. My power steering reservoir screen was also pretty clogged. I didn't drop the tranny pan 'cause I have bad luck with seals and so am hoping that screen is clean enough.
    Detroit TrueTrac limited slip.
Husky mudflaps on aluminum brackets. I don't want to be that guy throwing rocks down the highway. They come off easy if needed.
New rear lights since one of the old ones was busted. Had to get a second so they'd match better. Also new front turn signals since a connector was frayed and sockets were bad.
Four new stock type rope hooks all around the bed. Well, three. One is really stuck. Also some new hooks mounted to the bed floor for dirt bike strapping.
Yakima Q Tower Stretch Kit roof rack with aluminum channel floor for the spare tire and high lift.
Warn front receiver hitch. That was the first idea place to put the winch, but then it moved into motorcycle loading duty in the bed. The hitch makes a good retrieval point.
Can't see them but new CV seals on the front diff. Man, those CV joints are a bugger to get out. Now I need new dust seals but that'll wait.
Replaced missing clockspring to restore factory cruise control function and horn. Great day when the cruise light lit and speed held... and released.
Redacted license plate to protect from internet creeps. Yes you.
Bolt on sliders from CBI are somewhere between being manufactured and arriving. Don't do rock crawling but sliders seem to be the most reliable trail jacking point.

When does this stop? I've got a gas gauge dash light out, and he's leaning to driver's side up front. AC is uncertain. I'd also appreciate new seats.......

Tacomaworld has been a big help with all this.

No need to get defensive. I'm not trying to prove anything. Just looking to understand. I think people pay attention because they don't understand the rationale behind the behavior and maybe they want to understand. "What do they know that I don't know?"

Considering how long we've been looking at pictures of cars on websites, it's a relatively new phenomenon that seems to have no basis in fact. Maybe I missed the news story that sparked the trend. Honestly, I don't care either way. I just thought I'd share my experience with one of those search sites. My point was it's very unlikely I can go to a web site, search your license plate, and pull up your address.

    :hattip:Carry on.

I tried that. DMV wouldn't approve it.

Still my point is who cares. Maybe they know things you don't. Maybe they have a sensitive job. Maybe they smuggle diamonds. Who cares why and most importantly they probably won't tell you why because that defeats the purpose

The DMV is no fun lol

Sell and move on is the plan next December. Maybe it's low T, but the idea of rowing gears anymore has gotten old

Gonna install the replacement leaf springs tonight, got nothing to do. The diff wont be delivered until tomorrow so that gives me some free up time for other things.

Get something that doesn't look so ugly. My girlfriend has a prius and I hate to even be seen in the thing. I told her when that thing craps out we are getting her a Ford Fusion Energi, some of those can get like 100ish in the city. I'd have to look into them more obviously but I've seen them on the lots and was impressed with the MPGs for being a Ford hybrid.

I drove my dad to pick up his truck from getting it lifted. Then I parked my truck for the next few days. He’s got a 2016 F150 XLT FX4, I’m jealous of his locking diff... B74E2A60-2904-4E50-BD47-C397E38EA22F.jpg

Finished my rear lift. The front is 2" higher so I guess I'm gonna take the 5100's down all the way.

Ok you sons of bitches that keep bitching about California this, California that. I've been in North Dakota for just over six years and I'm burnt the f-out. I want to work on my Tacoma, maybe even fall in love with it again, but it's too f-ing cold. This weekend it is forecast to be 19 degrees. My garage is wet, because the dick heads that live in my apartment building don't push the snow away from their garage doors. I hate this state. I rather live in a shit part of Sacramento.

The grass is not always greener. I'm not sure if I'm going to make it another year just because the weather sucks. Oh it's supposed to snow two days this week.

I wouldn't really want to use it in 4HI anyways, if you need to lock it you should likely be in 4LO anyways I'd imagine

    Grey wire mod fixes that
