@1997tacomav6 <—- this guy did a sweet job on his taco.

Talked to the methanol injection place although I don’t have a SC, and the benefits come from cooling the air going into the SC to run cooler and have denser air entering than would otherwise be possible. I’m probably wrong in some of this since I don’t have either system installed...

Sounds like it’ll be a sweet upgrade though! Hope to see a build thread!

Is ECU compatibility based on cab configuration at all? I have a '96 V6 regular cab I wouldn't mind boosting but I haven't bothered to track down an ECU. This is partly because I know it will be difficult if it needs to be from a '97 V6 regular cab.

I don't think so. Has more to with changes to the ecu programming and insides changing. They change quite often. Sometimes every 3 months

In the 1st gens they change that often? Why did you recommend that one part number in particular? Any favorable characteristics to that one?

They do unfortunately - that may be the most readily available one with compatible pin-outs afaik.

Hey would you be willing to share your ECM part number with me? I have a '96 V6 regular cab with an EGR and I am thinking just in case the ECMs are cab style and or EGR dependent your ECM part number would be best if I decide to boost. Otherwise you could share your vin with me as that would bring up the correct ECM too using Toyota's software. TIA

You're going to like that supercharger and power increase . I've got Supercharger on my 4cyl making as much hp as a stock V6 or more . not running a 5th injector set up just upgraded Toyota Supra "Pink" injectors and it runs awesome

One of the best upgrades for Supercharged motor is by running a header . this helps get all that air out of your motor as fast as possible . I'm running a Doug's Headers Tri Y stepped header design that scavenges the exh out of the motor quickly and efficiently

yeah. They changed them a lot. Pretty interesting when I was doing research on it.

That part number I have was just the last version really before the 98s and that one changes plugs and wiring completely and is not compatible at all with your current wiring harness.

The favorable characteristic is that it doesn't pull the timing like the others and works with boost. You'll still need to do fuel mods though.

Are the fuel mods required even if you run the stock pulley and all stock exhaust?

yes usually depending on your elevation. As you are at a lower elevation Id plan on it. It'll likely ping

Because the engine is running lean. The reason for the 7th injector.

I've never had a problem with running lean on my 4cyl and don't need a 5th injector !!! . I'm running "Pink" Supra 310cc injectors , this set up has been on my truck since almost new
