So I stumbled upon this picture that got me excited, a wood dash kit for a first gen Tacoma. I have seen several of these kinds of kits for the second gen but this was the first I've seen of one for a first gen and it looks really good. I did some more research on kits like this but they're nearly non-existent for first gen Tacomas. I found a seller on Amazon called "American Dash" (https://www.amazon.com/TOYOTA-TACOMA-2001-2002-INTERIOR/dp/B005GWTD0A) selling the one in the picture but other than that I couldn't really find anything. Is it worth buying this kit or am I going to get ripped off $200? (There are no reviews and very few pictures) There's also two kits by B&I and Remin but these only have a picture of some Cadillac on them even though they claim to fit 01-04 tacomas so I'm very skeptical of these. (https://www.carid.com/2001-toyota-tacoma-dash-kits/)
The American Dash kit says it comes in 2D sheets so how hard would something like that be to mold? or how much would it cost for someone to mold it for me? Should I even waste my time looking for a new dash?

Whats the search keywords you used to find this? "Make my tacoma look like a 70's cadillac" ?

It's not for everyone but it's definitely better than the plain black plastic imo

My 99 had that installed when I bought it in 09. It was all cracked and starting to peel off. I think the first thing I did when I got the truck was rip it off. If it had covered all the black plastic then it may have looked nice, but since it’s just a 2D sheet then you see all of the edges. I honestly don’t know why someone would want that on their truck.

If you want something nicer look into hydrodipping your interior plastic pieces.

My truck had it when I bought it. Still holding up pretty decent for being 19 years old. I personally don’t mind it I kinda want to take it off but I’m afraid it will tear everything up underneath it when I try and remove it

It’s not real wood it’s like wood print covered in some kinda thick plastic or resin of some kind. I’ve talked to someone about this before on this forum who had the same thing. I think it was maybe a dealer option :notsure: If you look through my past post you maybe able To find the convo

Oh come on, that's not fair. There are some 90's Lexus that look like that, too...

But why stop at the interior?

I'd rather have the station wagon. Put a blower on it, make a fun sleeper. I think if op does the wood stickers he should also add some dingo balls. You need to go so tacky you end up cool. You can't half ass it.
