    We aren’t sure when...but! I was actually just reading an article on NASAs plan to de pressurize Yellowstone...by drilling a 10km deep hole into the aquifer around the 250bn square km magma pool to pump in more water to cool the magma by an additional 35%

    That was part of a proposal actually. The resulting steam could spin turbines to generate power that could suppl the surrounding area (didnt specify how much area but its wyoming so like 15 people) for thousands of years lol!

    Also, while researching drilling holes in the ground...the soviets hold the record for the deepest hole drilled, at 9" in diameter and 7.5 miles below the surface. They started in 1970 and quit in 1994 when temps of 364 degrees melted the drill bits...

    they spent 24 years...DIGGING A HOLE.
