After reading the whole thread it seems like there was lack of attention to detail on both sides which culminated in a bad situation. Unfortunately the OP was put in a tight spot and had to make do with what he had to get the truck back on the road. With all that said, there are other vendors out there to choose from and I probably won't be doing business with Wheelers.

It's Wheeler's job to know the products they carry and send out the door. Good customer service starts with knowing your products inside and out. Having worked in business development for a distributor, product knowledge is paramount and it would seem that the sales rep that the OP spoke with didn't know the product.

My intention is to remain neutral in this matter...

Knowing Brian in person, he's not one to have made the mistake of getting the wrong part especially after calling to confirm like that. Yes we are all fallible and have done dumb things but typically one pays mors attention when dropping a $100 on something.

In short he's not upset about the money at all if you've seen his build you know he's got plenty of that :D he's more frustrated at the fact that he was misled unintentionally as it may have been and is simply soliciting an apology or in the very least recognition of fault and the time wasted on his part and the time wasted by Allen Fab, especially when you're paying a fabricator by the hour.

Brian, I know you're upset and I'm sure you tried to resolve this peacefully before putting wheelers on blast, but maybe tone it down just a Teensy bit.

@Wheeler's Off-Road Inc I understand you wanting to protect your employees, and your business, however perhaps entertain the possibility that your website was not updated at the time of the occurrence and one of your employees misspake. An easy mistake to make considering how similar the underpinnings of a second and third gen are.

This isn't about the money, this isn't even about the wrong Parts, they made them work, this is simply about a man being called a liar, and I can respect that.

That said there's always three sides to a story, yours theirs and the truth. I hope everything gets sorted out and we all leave his friends.

    This guy reads and comprehends!

I can admit that I didn't read the receipt email they sent me and that a small part of this is on me. I didn't feel like I needed to since I had just spoken with them.

Between the product being listed on the manufacturers website:
    https://web.archive.org/web/2017061...-Lower-Control-Arm-Cam-Tab-Gussets-59860-10FJ

and the product being listed on Wheelers site in December 2015.
    https://web.archive.org/web/2015122.../weld-on-lower-control-arm-cam-tab-gussets-2/

I'd say there was enough info for you to make an informed decision. Websites for small companies are not always up to date. Cross reference that stuff before ordering.

At least you've now learned to make sure stuff fits before welding it to your truck.

    Nice try...

Again, I called Wheelers to ask since I could not get in touch with TC.

My question is this...why do so many people expect the customer to do so much research regarding a product?

If something is advertised as properly working, then I'm going to buy it if I need it. Sure, there's a price point where I do intense holy crap research before buying but what is that price point for an individual? who knows?

I don't go to Wal-Mart and find an item and go "Hm...I should drive to Target and Kroger and every other store to make sure this one is right". If it's advertised as fitting, it should fit.

As I said, websites for small businesses are not always the best.

Had you cross referenced the part number on the manufacturers site, you would have noticed the error.

I agree that they shipped you the wrong part. I just don’t agree that a little of the burden doesn’t rest on you.

Maybe I’m weird. I typically pull part numbers from manufacturers then search those to find the best price. I never start at a distributors site.

    Not completely true. Ask All-Pro.

Either way it is a shitty situation. Hopefully this can get worked out for the best for both sides.

I agree with you. However, it clearly says 05-15 and dude drives a ‘16 so, it’s not in depth homework or rocket science.

I understand that, but a lot of folks don't.

Consider this example....somebody is really inexperienced with all of this stuff, and they get told by someone that they need a part. They are then told Company X carries that part and that they are great to deal with. So uninformed customer goes to Company X to order and calls to make sure the part will work, told it does, it's advertised as working on the website, so they buy it.

    It's the wrong part.

    Who's at fault?
