When it comes down to replacing the HG since I'm in that far should I replace the timing belt, water pump etc.? I know it'll need to be done within the next year and I have a slow HG leak anyways. It won't be my DD at that point so it could sit for a week or two

yeah I would. Valve cover gaskets, spark plugs/wires, thermostat, any idler pulleys that look bad. Inspect the radiator too.

I'll probably do all that next year. This year it's find DD, rear bumper, steering rack, u-joints, random bushings that need replaced.

I'm so over due and I keep buying cool stuff. :anonymous: Even halfway to the tundra brake upgrade with some used calipers I picked up recently. Oh well. I will be taking a small break from big adventures this summer, maybe I can do it then.

Lots of people get a second vehicle to use as a daily driver because it's better on gas. Well do yourself a favor and do the math first to make sure you will actually be saving money. Figure up how many miles you drive, and how much you will save on gas. Then compare it to the cost of buying a new rig. Don't forget to add in insurance, taxes and licensing. In most cases you need to drive a ton of miles to even break even.

I had alot to catch up on. How often do you guys grease the bushings on the leaf springs?

Also thinking about removing my sway bar as well, Everytime I hit a trail the sway bar link comes loose and makes the awful knocking noise. I have OME 881 springs. Is that enough spring rate for them to be removed?

Mine came on a while back even though the reservoir was full. I just cut the wire.

That's the springs I have. Took my sway bar off about six months ago. Don't miss it a bit.

It wouldn't just be for the sake of gas, it will mostly be because we will be needing a family car and my truck isn't going to work for that.

Also, I have to fill up with premium which is $4/gallon in southern CA right now...so it's getting to that point
