Since I lifted my truck my antenna keeps hitting the garage door.

I've been to antennax and a few other sites and can only find 14" or smaller antennas.

Does anyone make a replacement that's about even (minus an inch or 2) with the top of the cab?

I really don't like the look of the shorty antennas.

I used a hack saw on my stock one, 1. pop the ball off 2. saw to desired length 3. file the top to a small angle so it can slide into the ball ( couple taps with a hammer will do the job) 4. a little black spay pait to cover up any scratches that may have happened. good to go.

Has anyone tried to use their satellite antenna on their 09+'s as their radion antenna. Is it even possible.

I don't care for the shorties either and I know some think they're cheesey but Metra makes a power antenna that fits the Tacoma. I bought the black one which I think looks pretty good.

I like the antenna scraping on things. The front 3rd of my ball is worn off from the cement parking garage where it scrapes twice on every floor going in or coming out every day at work. There, y'all run with that last statement. :D

The first thing I did to mine was to shorten the stock antenna.
Take it off the truck, tape up a crescent wrench and use it as a slide hammer to remove the ball.
Use a hacksaw and take off desired amount.
Tap back on ball with a tiny bit of super glue.
    5 minute mod.

Does cutting the antenna affect radio reception?

That is good to hear, I would think it may effect AM more than FM, but I don't listen to AM all that much anyways. Once I get around to buying some more paint I think I will cut of a few inches to make it level with the roof-line, thereby maintaining the "O crap my truck is about to become a convertible" warning system.

Great suggestions in this thread. I took off 6 inches off mine with a bolt cutter and the reception is fine. I figure I still have about 3 inches sticking above the roof line so if anything hits the top of the antenna I know I better watch out - wanted to maintain the "O crap my truck is about to become a convertible warning system" as Juggernaut described.

I had lost the top knob-thingy in the parking garage at work so created a new one - cut out of a small piece from a hockey puck (I am Canadian) and cut/sanded it to size then glued it on with some epoxy.
