Haha just a thought for now, but I'm making more than I ever have, I have less debt then I ever have, and freeing myself of a liability (in terms that a vehicle takes money out of your pocket) seems to make sense. And I'll be buying another vehicle in July to Daily, so 2 vehicles idk lol.

Nothing wrong with 2 vehicles. Especially if you enjoy wheeling. Either wheel or see a psychiatrist. Wheeling is cheaper.

Reduce your insurance coverage on the Taco.

And quit buying those high dollar mountain bikes.

    This financial advice is free.

If you have a girlfriend, it’s never enough.

If you have a wife, you’ll never see it.

I'm very lucky, my gf is much more fiscally responsible than I am! She makes her own money :)

I'm thinking I'm 25 now, so I gotta start soon

Hahaha at 25? I’m guessing you have the retirement plan figured out! Me...I’m sure I will die in a cube.

No worries man on your decision, most of my friends are consolidating their lives mainly for the future family package. Shit, I became an engineer to fund the adrenaline life. But that’s why my chic is a nurse!

haha that's smart! I don't have any plan really, besides the typical save money mindset. my gf and I have enough time to plan for kids and stuff. I still have the life, I just want the life forever without working one day haha

Additional free advice for now and well into retirement:

Marry into money or someone that makes a lot of it.

Make sure you’re in the Will of everyone that can possibly will you anything.

Most engineers that I have worked with that made anything of themselves would disagree. After a few years most end up mushrooms. Excessive stress and sedentary workstations make heart disease a hazard. Then you may get blessed with covering the ass of some idiot that was only hired because they are not a white male, which also makes them immune to downsizing. Once you do make a decent wage the constant veiled threat of younger and cheaper replacements is always just beyond the horizon. On the bright side there is always excessive management by those who can't comprehend or perform your job, sort of a cross between office space and dilbert.
So grab the thorazine, and have a great day!

While I do agree the typical older engineer in the office/design discipline tend to have deteriorating health/overweight I find that many are driven this way with their career. Eventually though like most people, it’s their family needs, kids, house, bling car, etc that keeps them pushing for the paper. I think for the dudes working the GS govy side of the House, yes you tend to get plagued with these old ass turds that barely know shit but have been in the system forever and refuse to retire and just wait for the lord to take them from their office chair. My friends never shut up about those worthless souls that they have to deal with.

In essence though, the market for the civilian sector is always changing depending on when your region gets their infrastructure up to date and the supporting equipment with it. Normally it’s the long term maintenance projects like transit systems for instance that need new equipment, rfi, or new facilities made that tend to keep companies afloat.

I would say this though, if you are engineer I don’t care what discipline, what certs you have, what amount of hair you might have lost in drawings, you won’t ever be as banged up as a solid trade guy that’s been in the shit for 10 plus years.

That said engineers have a pretty cushy job as we get paid to make decisions, not do the labor portion. If you are doing excessive labor, my friend you are being underutilized.
