My buddy's GPS led him astray on a shortcut home from a job on Concow rd in Butte county. Top of the road was dry, but was just goo underneath. Tried a few gentle pulls first, no good. It ended up taking 4 running starts with about 8 feet of slack to get him out.

damn. I tried yanking a 1500 dodge out of some thick mud like that, but didn't get anywhere. Probably because I was just sinking in the sand.

Ya I got a dirt road that shortcuts to the freeway directly across from my house. It gets ruts like crazy and about every couple of weeks some kid knocks on my door (my tacoma in the driveway) and asks to pull him out. I have seen just about every kind of truck get stuck there, but never the tacoma. I need to start charging...

I think any vehicle with stock tires and suspension would have gotten stuck in that muck regardless of manufacturer.

I recently watched my buddy in his 2010 Dodge 3500, a $50K truck, spin his tires on wet grass and mud for 30 minutes before I went over and hooked up. He still won't talk about it, and was pretty upset when first try I pulled him out.

I pulled out a 4wd ford excursion diesel that was stuck in the mud with my 96 Tacoma 2.7l.

I was happy to point out that even with a power stroke diesel you still can't beat a little Toyota 4 cyl.

I pulled a 91 4x4 Chevy S-10 Blazer to the trans shop twice in my 2.7 base model single cab. Funnier yet I pulled a 2003 Dodge 4x4 out of a mud pit only 13" deep.

The mud pit was our play spot when work was slow. Boss just sat back and laughed.

I pulled a Ford exploder off a dirt mound that was high centered with no wheels at all touching the ground. Took me a yank with about 6 feet of slack to get its back wheels on the ground, then three guys in the bed of my truck bouncing up and down to get my ONE drive wheel some traction. It worked but sure wished I had a 4WD that night.

Buddy of mine with a locked 2wd f150 got stuck instantly in a mud hole. He put the strap on his truck and said it was secure, turns out he wrapped it around the back bumper:rolleyes:. I put it in 4lo w/the diff lock and pulled his ass out. Only problem was that i flattened his nice shiney chrome bumper:bananadance::devil:

ATO front skid (need more but icon's might fail if I hang anything else from my truck) All-Pro front bumper thanks to a good deal here and a pesky encounter with a rock or 20, total chaos uppers.
Have not pulled out a ford but did pull out a taco buried to the frame a few weeks back with no problem. Just 4 low and a slow pull. Pre runners wont go everywhere, sand can be a bitch if you have to slow down.

Ha, Ha, good point, I left that part out when I was bragging!

I don't even think my 2.7L could hold 70 mph on it's own going up a hill (the gearing sucked), let alone towing any sort of trailer!
