What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Having a DD is the best thing I ever did for my Taco. Saves the miles for the weekends, means working on it is pleasurable and not super rushed, keeps miles off my 37-inch tires, and I get WAY better mileage in the CRV than I ever got in my Tacoma even stock.

Honestly, a DD is the best. The only part that sucks is I drive a CRV more than a Tacoma, and if a friend calls saying they are stuck and need a quick tow I have to run home first to get the truck.

After having a DD for over 2 years now, I can never go back. It's so nice being able to do all my pre trip preps a couple weeks before and know I'll be ready to rock when it's time to come. Also great pre-packing and leaving it in the garage a day or two before knowing I can just roll out and be on the road. Not to mention the fact that I had it sitting in the garage in the middle of my winch install for like 3 weeks so I could take my time with it. Also love knowing if I bust it wheeling I can limp home, park it, and deal with it at my leisure. And then if I ever want the joy of driving my rig I take it to work one day a week.

Same. Huge for me for all those reasons.

Got a 3rd one due to the odds of hitting a deer...which I did with my DD..so needed a backup for that and have been able to take my time rebuilding that truck. And another 4x4 for the lady to use this winter which She will definitely have too.

Why I just buy trucks no matter what haha ironically...this single cab gets way better gas mileage than my other trucks..so thats a nice bonus. Not sure I could help anyone out here get unstuck as the ditches are so damn steep and my truck weighs nothing compared to all the full sized diesels running around haha

anyone know what rear leaf spring shackle will work for the All-pro expo springs? i prefer avoid them since there kinda shitty atm

 

I’m running my Expo packs with stock shackles ATM.

I've got my eyes on an 85 pickup nearby. Just needs a new starter, distributor, coolant and oil. Solid front axle. EFI. Hopefully this guy gets back to me.

Get some SPC UCA's and never touch the cam bolts again. Unless you need new bushings of course.

 

Rod ends and heim joints or whatever they’re called.

I might not need rod ends, but they don’t look good...

 

Not sure this would help. I need the cam bolts free so I can get my alignment dialed in. Presently I have a very slight pull to the right that is really only noticeable on long trips.

Cutting out the old cam bolts fawks the bushings. New bushings are mandatory.
