Holy crap! What a difference in sound quality, I upgraded my oem speakers to JL Audio C1 series with component speakers in the front door. Why did I wait so long to do this?IMG_20180313_221839.jpg IMG_20180313_221848.jpg

I upgraded the HU first as I wanted built in nav and it was a big improvement. Then after reading all the posts about the cheap oem speakers I decided to upgrade those too.

All said and done, how much did the upgrade run you? Does the HU have any issues connecting to GPS?

EDIT: Just looked up that HU, wow that's a hefty price tag.
EDIT 2: Just looked all that up. Wow, just south of $1000. You threw the 'Cheap' out of the 'Cheap Speaker Upgrade'

Yeah the speakers weren't too bad but I went all out on the Kenwood but I got all the features and power I wanted (50 watts peak without an amp). The built in Garmin nav system works great and I've had no issues connecting and staying connected. I'm very happy with the function and performance of my new system.

I bought the HU first because I wanted built in nav and couldn't find an Entune unit south of $1300, the sound was improved but I was curious what a difference it would make to upgrade the speakers. It was worth it.

Is the Garmin a Lifetime updates?

I assume you'd have to sneaker net it from your computer to the unit with an SD card or something. But the point is, OE stuff you have to pay for.

Did you install it yourself or have it done. Do you have to remove to plastic door panels to put in the new speakers? If so did they go back together okay?

I gotcha. I’m always hate taking plastic door panels off. They never seem to go back together tight. That’s the only reason I haven’t upgraded yet.

Nice. Interesting component front coaxial rear. So wanted an aftermarket HU but then all the maestro stuff meh. In the end I don't think installing amps and a DSP was any cheaper or easier. Enjoy the new sound man. (and get a sub!)

I ended up going with a Pioneer double din head unit. (AVH-X2800BS) then added an amp and sub. I have the access cab and ended going with a custom box from sub thump for the back. The box sounds great for being a sealed enclosure. (single 10 inch Alpine Type R subwoofer

If you have an iPhone it’s not bad because you can use the Waze app through the radio and it will give you turn by turn. It essentially just takes the Waze app and puts it on the head unit. its a little tricky to set up but works okay. The head unit itself is a little finicky to be honest. 90% of the time it works like it’s suppsoed to.

Ah, I use android. Bummer. Thought it was fully self contained. I really like the idea of having it on the HU all in one unit, but I guess RAM mount for my phone is cheaper lol

With the component front speakers I don't need a sub, plenty of bass from the 6x9 woofer.

How did the tweeters fit? Did you need a bracket?
