what happened with it? I mean I don't mob very hard but mines been completely solid -- except the original one which essentially went limp and wouldn't hold the angle I move it to. But mob armor just sent me a replacement for it free of charge. It definitely holds up much better than the ram mount i use for my ipad or ham radio.

I went with the A-pillar RAM mount. I wanted my phone as close to driving line of sight as possible.

Not mine, but this. Using the RAM-HOL-PD3U, not the X.

    https://www.rammount.com/part/RAM-HOL-PD3U Hmmm, they added condoms.
This video is helpful for understanding how it functions:

I use RAM X-grip with @Lostsheep mounts for both my phone and my I-pad and couldn’t be happier.

Just found the arms a bit flimsy if one is not careful around them. Which I was not. Can't bend the purpose-built stuff they sell.
Thought I'd offer an opinion. Cue joke about opinions being like assholes...

    stuff
I need to get something for the phone mount in the taco. Used magnetic on my old phone attached to vent. Worked great until you had full a/c or heat on. Then the phone would start acting coo-coo...

In the CRV my iphone wedges perfectly between the climate knob and the bottom of stereo. No holder needed :)
