The rigs I've seen doing it just have the cable running from the fairlead to the axle. Not sure if it makes a difference if they were leaf sprung or not, but they were serious rigs so crossover steering was present. Maybe whatever they had the cable hooked to stuck out far enough so the cable didn't interfere with the steering links?

Usually those guys' winches are directly over the axle (axle is pushed far enough forward so it is flush with the front of the rig) so they can get away with using their recovery winch for suck-down too. My winch is a still a couple feet in front of my axle so if I were to do it, I'd be more-so pulling the axle to the front of the truck, and not in an upward direction.

K, I'm not expert on it for sure, so I'll take your word for it. Just sayin' though I'm pretty sure the cable was going back a good bit on the ones I've seen in videos. Of course, I've only ever seen one video of it in use and it was on a beat up old SASd 2nd Gen T4R on like 37s or 40s. He was trying to climb a damn near vertical face and wasn't having much luck. Then you saw the front suspension compress and if you listen closely, you can hear a winch whining as the suspension compressed. He tried it again and this time crawled right up it. I can't honestly say how his winch was mounted though because the camera view was from the the side and rear of the vehicle.

My drag link, tie rod, hydro ram and my panhard bar would all be in the way for me.

I did buy a shorter limit strap a while back to put in the middle of the axle which would have done similar to what a winch would do.... Not allow the axle to fully droop but would still let it articulate throughout it's range. I wasn't able to find a sufficient way to mount it though

:notsure: oh, well, it was just a thought. He had all that stuff, but I guess that tube he had sticking out there to protect the hydraulic cylinder got him past all of it.

That guy was kind of an idiot though. Especially when he tried to knock down that tree that just saved his ass from a dangerous roll.

Well, here I go again. I have less than one month until the next big trip, so I should start cutting again.

I realized the atlas was still hitting the floorboard in one spot, so I decided to cut the floor and build The floor a little higher. While I was at it, I made an access plate that would allow me to fill the atlas through the vent fitting, which will make life easier.

When I originally beat the floorboard up to clearance it for the atlas, it bent the stock seat mounts all up so the seat frame didn't line up with the holes in the floor for shit. Now with the PRP mounts, they really don't line up and the new access panel contacts the seat mounts. So I have to hack those up as well and build a new front mount for the seat frame.

Also, I believe the mystery clunk I have been having is the traction bar so that will be coming off and probably re-designed to make it mo' betta.

Seat mounts modified to fit... The driver side obviously needed it, but the passenger side ended up need it too. These PRP seat brackets didn't fit good whatsoever.

The floor is ready for coating, minus an acetone bath prior to application.

No I just got a pretty big promotion at work and I can't take time off for a bit until things stabilize. Ontop of that some family stuff I can't get out of just popped up so that's the nail in the coffin. That's all fine, I haven't wrenched on my truck all winter and it's not really prepped to wheel right now.

Probibly will hit Harlan closer to the middle or end of spring though. I haven't been there since the SAS and want to hit up some of the harder trails.

Got all the interior back in minus seats.... approaching 4 weeks since ordered.

Decided to put on these Amazon special LED round lights I’ve had for 6 months. They look better than I thought they would and they are pretty bright.
