We can run the weekend before or after, whatever works for everyone.

That was a false alarm, @TeecoTaco was right about rail dust. Didn't see any of that on a delivery date because truck had only 3km and haven't been exposed enough to a weather to make those spots appear. All gone with a clay bar now  Looks shiny and pretty now.

Im almost betting mine is or very close to the same as your truck will be with the 285s.

Yesterday I drove 200km. Steady at 100kmh. Computer was calculating 13.1L/100. Which would be slightly better as there 7% off. Once you go faster than it, it drops off.

But this is the life time of me driving the truck. 80% highway and usually 115 on highway or more.
    5000 with stock tires, 7000 with 33s

What rims are you running and what backspace. From what I've read there's trimming and likely chopping involved. What has been your issues

Okay, i was set on getting some sort of awning for my truck. For rain and shade.
Looked at smittybilt and arb awnings. And for 300+ i just couldn’t justify it for using it 4/5 times a year. And you have to drive around to trail and back with the awning sticking off the side.

I loved the rhino rack sunwing 270 awning or whatever its called.

Easy deployment, and the best feature, no poles to set up and get in the way.

But im cheap. So i had already made mounts for my bedrack for the awning planning for it.

Came up with this idea. Took the mounts. Welded 1.5” square tube on it for mounts. Then bought aluminum 1.25” OD to fit inside the square tube.

It measures about 5ft off the vehicle and almost 7ft long.
I get it to camp. Put the mounts on (4 bolts and wing nuts)
Slide the three aluminum sticks in.
Tarp is still in the mail, with a grommet kit. Ill cut the tarp to fit and put grommets where appropriate and use a washer with a clip to hold the tarp in place at each corner.

It probably will be a little flexy but with no poles coming down, but on less step in the set up. I hung a 5lb weight off the tip of the aluminum when it was sitting in the mount and it dropped less than a inch. I over built as usual so the wind will really have to gust and even then the tarp will be the first to go.

Total cost. Tarp $20, grommets $10, aluminum(expensive shit) $40 everything else is left over metal and scraps. So for 70$. Not bad

Its not completely done, so please criticize it and make suggestions thanks

Needs ARB sticker on the side, no expo points for you.

I like the idea and execution, but time will only tell you how well that idea works.

I don’t think it meets ARB quality standards unfortunately. But it should work nonetheless. Hopefully Amazon delivers the rest of my goods tomorrow

That's a great idea! In the center of each pole, you could weld another bracket to add a center "roof style" bar that can run across for water runoff. Something like a triangle. For light rain when your in the middle of preparing food, etc...

This is what I did for my tarp , small aluminum pipe slides into the larger one mounted on the cap . Tarps have short bungee cords with hooks .jhl-92.jpg
