So i went out to my 2016 sport today and truck did not start. Just the starter clicking away. Checked voltage and battery is dead. I have not driven the truck in a couple weeks but there is no reason the truck should be dead. Any ideas?

I have a hid kit, spod and winch.
The winch is not hooked up to power untill required. And the spod has a low power cutoff that will shut itself off if voltage gets too low from me leaving something on.

Interior lights shutoff after 15ish minutes etc.

    Any help apreciated.

Security maybe? A couple weeks is a fair amount of time for even the smallest draw to drain 12 volts.

My 1st battery only lasted about 22 months. Toyota batteries are crap.

So my fleet work account at autovalue covers me for nationwide batteries... Not a tire thread!! What is the Biggest baddest battery i can stick in the factory location with little to no modification. And can i bring it up at my service to get the cost back etc?

Interstate, Oddysey, Optima are all good batteries and will last longer than most any stock battery.

They probably won't do anything at the dealer since it's already two years old.

Interstate or optima are my vote. I have had interstate in most autos i’ve owned. Theres 2 optimas in my boat 5 years old, they turn over big blocks with out any issue.

I bought an X2 Power AGM battery (just used the same group 24F that was on there) when my stock one died after about 12 months. Similar reserve power but I’ve had stereo, lights, etc on for a couple of hours at a time and haven’t drained it completely yet...

Best of all they have a 5 year warranty on them. But pricey but you can get rebates at Batteries Plus

I keep a little backup battery in the truck I can use to jump it if I ever need to though

"And the spod has a low power cutoff that will shut itself off if voltage gets too low from me leaving something on."

Which begs the question, what do you have that is running through the sPOD? If there was something that was left on, it's possible that the cutoff failed to function. Right?

I wouldn't point my finger at the battery, not yet.

Toyota batteries are absolute garbage. Back when I had a brand new Scion the battery went dead within 500 miles and in my taco the battery is leaking and has been for a while but they won’t warranty it because it passed the “pressure test” not sure how the hell you do a pressure test on a battery to see if it leaks but guess it is what it is but highly recommend replacing it with something else when you get a chance

Pretty sure the battery has a 36 month warranty.

You can bring it up at the service, but..... The most the dealer would do is replace the oem battery, if you have the old battery.

Stock batteries are made by Johnson Controls and come with a 36 month warranty. You can expect these batteries to run 2 to 4 years with normal use.

I put an Odyssey Battery in my car 10 years ago (April 2008) and it is still a freakin' beast, the car just finished sitting for 2 months and 1 day and it still fired up a V8!

Currently a aux usb charger, 2 rigid duallys as ditch lights and a 20” lightbar also facing forward. Pretty sure i would have noticed bright ass leds shining on me from the driveway to front door. But the usb outlet is a fair assumption. But it would not draw power if my phone wasnt plugged in?

Same thing happened to me after just 1 week of not driving. I just have HIDs and a 32" light bar. I did see that my voltage was at 13.5 when running, seems a little low?

Im starting to have it with this truck lol.

The paint is wearing under my hood from the rubber gaskets to the metal and the chrome bezel around the grille is getting all rippled and crincally. I have a list for my next service. Will c what they do. For now the trickle charger is on.

Couple weeks? How many weeks? The computers have some draw so without recharging the battery you can’t expect it to last several weeks. As for the hood it will wipe away, it’s just marks in the clear. Some running compound and it’ll be fine

Had 30 months and 34,000 miles on my 16 2.7L. One day the battery was fine, next morning click, click, click. Bought a new battery @ autozone to get it running, took it to the dealer. They checked it out, put in a new 84 month warranty battery, put the autozone battery in the bed and said sorry for your trouble, come on back if you have anymore problems.
    I’m a happy camper..

Mostly true...if you're in a bind after hours or too far from a Toyota dealer, then you're supposed to be able to get a new battery then make a claim with Toyota. I've never done this, but it's in the manual.

    Not enough to list
I've been gone over a month, came back and it cranked right up, zero hesitation. I did have a 14 Camry before the Tacoma. The battery in that literally died like 30 miles past the 30k mile warranty lol.
