OME 885's with top plate ok?

I have a 08 DC and just installed the OME lift from Toytec. I used the 885 coils OME shocks and the top plate spacer that is about 1/2" thick that they supplied. I didnt measure my height before the lift but I think I gained more than 3 inchs. How many of you use the top plate spacer with 885"s? Did I go to high? It looks fine just dont want to damage anything.

Chris, I dont actually know how high I went up. just seemed like alot. I see Wheelers and others also sell a 10mm and 13mm top plate spacer (Lift Enhancer)that can be used with OME springs. How much lift do the 885's typically provide by themselves? According to Wheelers site the 10mm adds 1/2-5/8" and the 13mm adds 3/4-7/8" . The spacer from Toytec should be in between.

 

The 885s and the top plate spacer is suppose to provide a 3" lift. Are you sure it went over? If you snap a picture of your CV angles I can tell you if its up too high

 

yes it is ok... I use them and I'm basically at 3" about 3.25"

 

Thanks guys. I called Toytec and Wheelers and both said this is common. The 885 springs provide 1 3/4 to 2" on average. That added to the top plate gets you in the 3" range.

 

Whats your fender to ground measurement?

 

I installed the spacers with my OME lift and the trim packer. I didn't measure before and after but it sits nice!!!!

 

My 885's sagged and only gave 1.75" of lift, so I made a custom top spacer to give me more lift. I'm now at 3.25" and have been for around 8000 miles with no problems. Truck has been lifted by at least 3" its whole life(45000 miles) without issue.

 

Its at the alignment shop right now I will measure it tommorow.

 

I measured 39" from ground to fender. I measured 24 1/2 from the center of the hub to the fender.

 

I could be off base , but that seems like a lot for a 4x4 , CV angles have to be fairly steep .

 

Thats with 305/65/17 tires. Alignment shop thought it looked ok.

 

Hub to fender measurement will not be affected by tire size

 

How much did your setup cost and where did you get?

 

Chris , does 24 1/2 hub to fender in the front seem high for a 4x4 ?

 

I have 885's with 10mm top plates and my cv fins have plenty of room in between them.
