We'll pretend you never asked that. Not that I give two shits; I think the place is waaaay overrated, but if word gets out that you asked that question, the "You shoulda been here when the Armadillo/Aquafest/Leslie/etc..." folks will light you up.

 

@Wju you should be able to stick them to your headliner. Just remove the backing from the patch first.

Fuck Torchy's Tacos.

Seriously.

Torchy's, Plucker's, and Rudy's were Austin favorites, until they sold out (so much for that Austin "F the man independence") and exported their fare. Profits skyrocketed for the owners, in equal measure to the trap door collapse of the culinary quality, uniqueness, and sentimentality of what were once Austin gems.

 

Gaw this thread invited all the most active members together in once place. 7 pages since last night. Trying to keep up is going to be futile.

The SoCo original location (the former Fran's Hamburgers, in fact) is better than all the others. That is the Torchy's we frequent, not the one closest to us.

Fran's was a legit burger. At least her ex-husband's place is still open at 71/Manchaca (Dan's).
