Good morning all. Will be keeping an eye out today for the drop. Hopefully bit if not, test file 1 has been great and enjoying it very much. Hopefully all that is good with it stays and only gets better with the new file. Till then:

I find it ironic and been following this thread for a long time that everyone says it's SO GREAT, but then people are waiting for the next update to drop to fix their problems? What really makes me laugh is the company is called "Orange Virus".. LOL.. you are all so brave.

I'm torn between gearing to 4.88 or trying this amateur hacked ECU program with little testing. I feel showing up to Toyota with re-gear versus an overpriced hacked ECU with a blown engine that is being pushed to the limits by tuning it would be harder to get fixed under warranty. Guess watching tuned cars on drag strips blowing up every other run doesn't help either.

I know the OP is thriving his business right now, but I just can't seem to take a $40k vehicle and try something like this.

I would assume. I have yet to try test file 2 as I don't really feel a need to be honest. But, based off experiemce and @MOC221_ experience, the goodness from other tunes get put in new ones as well.

I'm not sure where you get the idea that the ECU is "hacked" from. What Matt does is no different than what Toyota engineers do, with the exception that he has different tools to manipulate and flash the ECU code. The only things he touches are the maps that are used to control the engine. Also, based on the number of other platforms Matt works on, calling it "amateur" is disingenuous at best.

Nothing Matt is doing is pushing the engine to the limits. AFR and other parameters are all optimized, not pushed to the point that would cause engine damage. This has been verified by other forum members doing their own independent data logging. Also, the tune is undetectable by the dealer. There is no big red flashing light (tamper bit) that says "hey I'm a tuned ECU".

You also need to understand, like so many that come through here, this is the ALPHA thread and development is ongoing. It was never advertised as a final polished drop in solution. These trucks are complex and have some very interesting quirks to put it mildly. Mat has had to find these all by himself with no help from Toyota, which takes a lot of time and dedication. The fact that he still participates in this forum and responds to our feedback with NEW RELEASES is not so common for companies like his. He is utilizing the users of this forum as a resource to make his product better. I am sure you have heard of Alpha and Beta software releases and this is no different. None of the early adopters expected to get a 100% perfect solution on day 1.

If you feel the tune is overpriced, then by all means move along. That's your choice. If you are on the fence, stay tuned and wait around a while to see the final results. To come into this thread and post the nonsense above is childish and unnecessary.

Cool, don't. And if you really were following for a long time you would know this is still technically R&D stage. These problems you speak of are problems that were present on stock tune for the vast majority. This tune has eliminated or significantly reduce those issues. There are a few tweaks that are being ironed out, but I guess perfection is to be expected from the start.

So as I stated to Mat when the last test tune came out, the power seemed to be down a bit (not related to throttle smoothing, it seemed down even at WOT). I began using OBD fusion again to monitor things, and found that ign advance was different than before. KC was pulling a ton of advance it seems, as I've seen values as low as 14.7. On 1.03C I never saw anything below about 18.5. Anyway did some really hard pulls on the highway today and ended up with a KC learned value of 20.9 afterwards.
While cruising in 6th at about 65mph, it wasn't uncommon to see 27 deg + on 1.03C. The most I've seen on the test tune is ~23.
Why mention all this? Well if the new tune learns like the test tune does, it will take longer to get the KCs settled in it seems. I'm hoping if that's the case, the power will come back on it's own. BTW, that guy that said his truck shut down at 105... nope.

Fact. People dont understand software development. I guess we should know that by now given how many people in the alpha thread have issues even installing software...

I’m totally cool with updates. That means things are being tweaked and improved upon. Matt could have just left us all with 1.03 and called it a day but he didn’t. New things are continually learned and improved upon over time. That’s the way it works.
