Maybe that total includes some "don't come back and sue us" money? Years ago, an insurance company gave me $1,000 just for being a passenger in a pretty minor fender bender to sign a document saying I wouldn't try and sue them later down the road (old man hit the gas instead of brakes at a stop light). My father (work in the insurance business) told me I could've gotten way more, but I'm not really the kind of person to do that kind of thing. I was totally fine, that was the amount they offered and I was happy to have $1k more than I did the day before.

Still seems like a lot though in this case, but hey who knows

Even in California, nobody would pay more than $19,000 for that truck.

Another strange thing about that is that if the insurance company valued that truck at $29,000, that means that they would spend $20,000 fixing it before they considered it totaled. I'm no body shop expert, but from the looks of it in the pics, I'm pretty sure that $20,000 would fix that truck

Or they would have found her a comparable truck too replace hers with for about $15-$18,000

Yup, that settlement sounds like it includes pain/suffering/lost wages. If your neck starts hurting after the check is cashed, too bad so sad.

I'd buy back the salvage and get to work on a rock crawler build :sawzall:

Then the true settlement for the truck is NOT $29,000.

You need to be more concerned about you than the truck.

    Are you OK?
Any pain or stiffness issues you need to get looked at?

There are always other vehicles. No need to cry over a truck. It’s nothing money can’t replace.

It’s hard to get fair and just compensation for injuries. Money can’t fix disability.

You are not required to salvage your title if the vehicle is totalled. That only happens in certain circumstances that can vary based on state law.

If I were you I wouldn’t worry about it. You’ll run into a lot of problems with the truck trying to fix it. In a lot of cases it’s not worth the headache. You’ll spend the next two years of your life fighting with body shops over their work.

It will be OK. Plenty of 2nd Gens out there.

OMG ya'll are hilarious!! Thanks for the good wishes. And i will def keep up with tacomaworld and post new pics of truck i purchase.

Yes, the truck was practically brand new except for the miles. I kept every single receipt for any work that was done to it, i was very meticulous with it and kept floorboards covered with WeatherTech mats. Something tells me they'll be able to sink a couple of thousand into it, fix it up and sell it for at least 15k ( allthough, salvage title I'm guessing.)

All the comparisons that I did around my local area and a radius of 100 miles, the trucks barely comprable to mine we're coming up 21 and 22 thousand. Yes, I believe the additional money is for pain and suffering considering I could have been pretty injured in the vehicle and a lot of times injuries show up later.
