Hey everyone, I'm driving down tonight to look at a 2005 Doublecab prerunner SB with the TRD sport package and 79k miles and the asking price is $14995. Looking at the pictures, everything seems to be free of issues, but it's hard to tell with just pictures.

I know past Tacomas commonly went well into the 200k mile range with little problems, but I haven't heard anything about high mileage 2nd generation Tacomas since 05 was the first year.
Anyone with alot of miles on their Tacoma have any reason to
believe that I couldn't get another 150k miles out of one in good shape with 80k miles on it?

I plan on keeping this truck until the wheels fall off and it costs me more to put them back on than to buy a new truck, so with that in mind do you think this would be a good buy?

I do have the car fax and it checks out clean.

None currently, but I would like a better sounding exhaust and perhaps a cold air pack and some color coded step bars
Its certainly worth a look. I hope they have the maint records or some way of checking that. I am always suspicious of a vehicle with no maint records. Good luck and let us know how it drives and some pic's if possible.

    Sweet truck.

I always go by if there is more than 15,000 miles on it per year then stay away. That seems like a lot of miles for a truck that is 3-4 years old.

But hey its a toyota and they aren't just any old truck either...

80 grand on a 3 or 4 year old truck is pretty high. It could've been mostly highway miles. I think I'd pass.

CarFax is a load of sh*t. I ran my S10 one time to see if the 13 accidents, yes 13 accidents, 7 of which had police reports, would show up and all carfax "found" was that the truck had two owners(me and my dad). No mention of any accidents, some of which were quite memorial.

I most certainly would purchase this truck. My brother just bought a 2000 4dr tacoma 2x4 for $12000, he overpaid had 100000+ miles, and no wheres near as clean looking.

I would be hesitant to buy a truck with that many miles. Who knows how it was driven.
