Oh Man that doesn't sound good or right! Sounds like there binding to a stop! I wonder if they had the wrong front setup i have heard about Nitro sending out the wrong bearing or bushings? I heard this was corrected but you never know? But then again it was only on the Sport 4x4's! The shop should have to look into whats creating it before they tell you to call Nitro! It's there install work that should be first ruled out! Sorry to here your having this problem hope it gets worked out quickly!

    Dude get some gas!

That shop needs to step up and recheck the gear pattern. Usually the coast side isn’t important on a reverse cut ring. So it might have been overlooked?

ummmmm yeah, not normal. Sounds to me like the gears are just too tight. Does it make the sound during acceleration?

Wow dude, that's insane! I got out of SDHQ for less than $3k which included gears, REM polishing and labor. Then another $220 for the Hypertech speedo calibrator. They had my truck for about 3.5 days.

I was considering this route. Was the install relatively easy by doing it this way? Like the idea of swapping cores so very little down time.

that sucks - a shop here in Colorado won't even do gears if you supply them. Sounds like that shop really needs to step up and open it back up. Does that shop do a ton of gears for toyotas?

If you can install a lift then you can do the swap. I took my time and it took me a full day with just hand tools, a floor jack and no one helping out. The rear is pretty quick and straight forward. The front is more involved but still pretty straight forward, just lifting the pig into place is kinda fun. If you have a helper it's much easier.

Thanks! I did my own lift including the dakar leafs with no one helping so that is great news. I'm still debating cause the truck runs so much better with the OV tune and I've only got 33 inch skinnies. Next month will be the test going to Utah.

I got the OVtune and 32.5s right now and my god, this thing is so much fun to drive it's crazy. 35s will tone it down a bit when I finally put them on and bring my cruising RPMs down a tad. After the OV update comes out I'll go back up to the 91 tune cause my break in period will be done for my gears then it'll be time for even more fun. My only issue thus far is that with everything combined my MPG have taken a dump. When I first went to the BFGs on my stock gears and stock tune I was managing about 17.5 MPGs and now with the gears and tune I.m down to 14.5. Kinda disappointed since everyone else seems to be gaining MPGs with these mods but the tradeoff with driveability is worth it

Not right, what im talking about is very slight wines or any small vibrations ect.I can pickup those like no other.Im anal about that stuff.Factory has always been flawless for me so far, thats just me though.Dont get me wrong I like to modify, just more cautious now. This REM thing is new to me also, that could be an out for the installer or gear co. also.

    Gotcha thanks!

Would you guys recommend driving 1500 miles and having a shop install the gears and break in the truck around the city before driving 1500 miles back home?

    Not much stock left.
I believe that the point of the REM polishing is that you don’t have to break them in. Kind of like driving it off the showroom floor. BUT, I’m no expert.

This thread has me in an unsteady, very impatient mood lol. I just want my damn gears to arrive! I have fedex 2 day air, and no tracking number. Driving myself bananas getting updates from everyone’s replies on this thread.

My Google-Fu has failed me. I cannot find any videos or instructions for R&R of a front 3rd member for the 3rd generation. I would like to order the gears complete and do the install myself. I have done this before and installed ARB lockers before. I just have only done it on solid axle rigs. Would like to know what I am getting into and any pitfalls. Anybody point me to some DIY resources?

    I have a 2018 Access Cab TRD-OR. Tires are 255/85's. No lift.
