Even immediately after a flash, when we know the A/T tune is at it's finest before the learning screws it up it raced to overdrive (compared to OVTune) and always wanted to find it's way to a lugging 1100 rpms no matter what.

I found myself in some questionable situations a few times (basically became the dick cutting people off) b/c I couldn't easily make lane change or passing moves with the same finesse as I could with the tune.

Seriously it feels like the truck is towing a 5,000lb trailer on oversized mud tires (I'm all stock) driving the stock tune.

Yeah, there are still some minor quirks with occasional flares, idle, tip-in that you can talk about w/ the tune occasionally but the damn truck drives like a relatively lightweight midsized truck should drive.

One day I'd love to get a better understanding of why the stock tune was done the way it was. I understand some of it may have perceivably been for reliability but with the lugging in overdrive (= high load) I'm not really buying that. Then perhaps some damn focus group told Toyota "we want it to drive like a big weighted-down TRUCK (i.e. heavy, slow off the line)" and some of the way it drives was intentional to create a certain type of driver experience... Then, of course there's just the pure laziness factor where they may have just added layers and layers of stupidity in attempt to cover up the other layers of incomplete garbage. Hard for me to fully get my head around Toyota just being completely lazy with the entire tune w/o at least having some reasoning behind certain aspects... but alas that's what we're left to think once we have a chance to compare/contrast a well running truck with a sluggish hunk of poorly programmed steel and sheet metal!

Technically no, but so far i have been places I would have never gone without it. The cash i paid for the tune has been forgotten and I am happy. Sometimes companies get shit wrong...even Toyota.

This brings up another question...Why is Tesla the only one who has come up with an electric pickup? Seems like it would be a good idea for a new buyer market demographic.

Maybe they are the only ones with big enough balls to attempt it. Plus, perhaps some of their intellectual property from the over the road experiments will easily trickle down.

This. It’s a big gamble. Most companies aren’t going to make the investment in something that’s a huge risk. They’ll wait until someone starts gaining market share, them join the party after ripping off some of their ideas.

That brings up a LOT of design issues, patent issues and such. The amount of design needed to even produce a full electric car is insane. Then you also have to take into account the cost of making and how much it will sell for. Tesla is known to be expensive and that's because of the difficulty making an EV. Any other company could attempt it but it would look bad because the EV would be very pricey compared to their gas models

Psh, they'd still ask over and over again even if the thread was clear of shenanigans. People just don't like to read anymore. They'd seriously prefer to post a question and usually wait longer for a bunch of answers that dont fully answer their questions right away, rather than the time it would have taken them to Google and read
