    There are aftermarket 2lo kits for most jeeps. I used to run my CJ, my xj and now my tj in 2 lo most of the time off road until I needed the locked front end. I'd say it stresses the u joint less than driving a locked front end stresses the axle joints.

    Anytime locked rear would be great! Selling harnesses that would be PNP for both would be even greater!!!!

    I agree. It looks like it is going to be a long term kit, so I will save up for it. Given that it eliminates the needle bearing problem and preserves the front driveline. Lot's of upsides there.

    Yep @Mountain Minstrel , this method provides the human mechanical method some people wish for, but man the work complexity compared to splicing a few wires is , wow. But certainly some advantages, especially for lifted rigs...

    Give it time. As more guys pay off their trucks and they go to 2nd and 3rd owners, more will do it. My install will have to wait, I've got other things that gotta take priority on the truck.

    Agreed.
    I just like to have things 'done' and off my head. I won't feel this mod is 'done' until I get a few reports of installs without issues.

    I've skimmed all of this so I may have missed something, but why is a simple disabling of the ADD not enough for 2-low? I saw a mod where someone put a switch in to disable the relay that controlled the vacuum switch to the ADD. If you do that, will the Taco go into low range? Will it throw an error code? Go into limp mode?

    I really, really, really miss the days of manual locking hubs and real transfer case levers. All this computer automation. Hmmph!
