3rd Gen Quicksand thread

No real issues. They got a little louder as they wore down. But that’s expected.

 

These are similar but I would say the STT’s are a little more quiet. So far I really like these. They are heavy, But they are mud tires.

17’s and the tires are 285/70-17

 

i agree! i am running the poor mans ‘17 Tacoma “Anthracite” honeycomb 16” rims on my quicksand and love the color. i have small stock tires now, but i think when i get meats on em they’ll look awesome

 

Finally after a long preorder wait to get these wheels they are on the truck.

My 3rd gen quicksand is at the DOCTORS, 2nd day without knowing what is wrong!?



Basically, I was in 4hi- coming to a stop, clunk and then the 4x4 light began to blink.

4hi deactivated and wouldn’t go back in.

Took it in to wondries toyota and they haven’t figured stuff out...

Have we found a powder coat that is an exact match to the quicksand?

 

I took my truck to an auto body shop that powder coats. They sent my gas cap door to the powder coating supplier and had three samples sent back. One of them matched almost perfectly. Had my new bumper coated and will have it installed soon.

 

Any idea what the code is?

How's the fit?
I'm thinking about going with the tan one for my quicksand.

 

I went with the grill off eBay, not OEM. I didn't have any issues with TSS. Just disconnected the wire and took it out of original housing. Re-fastened it to the new grill and zip tied the wire back to where it was

Fit is really good. I had to move it back from the cab a little after I installed it the first time. Now it sits just right so that the front of it doesn't rub against the rear cab window and the rear flap hangs over the tailgate just right. But I was surprised how rigid it is for the weight. The folks at Softopper were really helpful and it shipped the same day. I am really happy so far.

 

Not all that scenic, but after a hike I was walking up to the the truck and it looked pretty slick.

 

I just saw a red taco with the whole painted grill surround in black. It looked really slick and thought it would look even better on a quick sand. Anyone do this or have a pic of one done like this?

 

What topper is that, the leer 100xr? Is it the reinforced version?

 

are your 5100's set to the stock ring or did you move the ring at all?
