That is usually the best way with iridiums.

If you use a standard gapping tool it will scrape off the iridium (or platinum for platinum plugs) right off the plugs, effectively making them less useful than coppers since they burn less effectively than a standard copper anyways and will last you less than 30K instead of the standard 90-100K that iridiums and platinum are famous for.

On another note, I commend your research on that upgraded intercooler pump. I did a ton of research on intercooler pumps these last few days and most people don’t realize GPM doesnt mean shit if it cant flow that through the heat exchanger. There are other good pumps that can but boy does the price start to hike up and very quick. I think I’ll stick with the one in your main post.

It requires connector modification, but it is a small price to pay for a gallon more per minute flow for an overall cost less than or equal to a replacement OE supercharger supplied pump.

Coincidentally when I was doing the mod, I actually found that the supercharger supplied pump was actually weeping out coolant, so it worked out all for the better in my situation.

Yeah thevplug doesn’t seem too bad to do, just two wires right? I’m just glad it doesn’t cost $1000 like one I was looking at lol.. Although if CSF comes through with a larger intercooler I wonder if running two of these pumps in parallel would be worth it. Time will tell on that.

You are correct sir: URD TCAI. I believe it is 3" opening, but can verify tomorrow.

Also, cleaning the MAF (which was insanely dirty) and knocking off some dirt/dust from the filter did not resolve the pending P0174.. . . . . . . . . .

If it is 3” ID then there is the Volant 61511. 7” x 7”, should be around the same size as the urd filter just not cone shaped, it will be round.

Awesome. I was hoping to find something a tiny bit smaller as far as the filter diameter is concerned too since it ever so slightly touches the inter cooler radiator (LTR)

Yes if you know how to gap a plug you can do it without putting any pressure against the electrode. The scale is for measurement only, the hole is for bending the tip.

I’ve seen people that don’t know how to use a gapping tool put the scale between the electrode and the tip prying against the electrode and I’m like WTF LOL :confused::crazy:

Yeah I hear ya. In terms of length the filter is 6” long but the flange is 1” so really it should only stick out 6”, i dont know if that is good or not with the LTR.

This. Never adjust (or even measure) the gap on iridium or platinum plugs with the circular gap tool. Feeler gauges to measure should not damage the tips.

I've seen the same. Lots of intercooler pumps out there, but people need to find the PQ graph (pressure versus flowrate) to see how many GPM you can flow with pressure drops (tubing, heat exchangers, etc.). It's like reading a dyno graph for a pump.

My magnuson supercharger and other mods should be arriving next week

Should I remove the restricter jet right away?

Also, any recommendations for better 4.0L header gaskets besides using OEM?

Looks like they only make cylinder head gaskets for the 1GR-FE.

I’ve had no issues with my OEM replacement gaskets. I replaced the valve cocer gaskets, plenum, and TB. All OEM and have had no issues with them. Glad I did!

Ohhhh. I thought you said "head" gaskets. Which header gaskets are you referring to?

Ran the same ones the truck came with in 06.

Ive been thru a few headers swaps and never got new gaskets.
