My taco got broken into this week. Took my girlfriend’s spare that was in my center console and got into her car too. Makes me want to leave a rifle bullet with a paper scroll wrapped around it saying “ I have a particular set of skills. . . In case someone else tries to break in.

Most thieves will just work around a locking lug nut by pounding on a smaller socket until it fits.

Nope, slightly smaller socket and a mallet. Works almost every time. Besides, the real expensive aftermarket wheels probably come with their own proprietary lug nuts.

Wish there was more that we could do to actually catch the perps after the fact. Its usually SOL unless you have say a decent surveillance camera or some solid leads for the cops to go on.

Couple years ago one of our 3rd gen 4runners were broken into with a brick to the window and they stole a a lot of merchandise. All happened within 30mins or so. Haha luckily the tires were scrap-quality though so they didn't take those at least.

Nowadays I try to keep all vehicles gated up to prevent any unwanted bodies.

There are also wheel locks that can prevent the mallet method by having the locks themselves spin on the outside, so if someone mallets a socket on it will spin freely without having any torque on the lug itself. Haha not sure how bullet proof they are though in practical use having not had them myself.

Sometimes the shady areas are a lot better than the nice areas.

I lived right on the edge of the ghetto in Sacramento after college never had a problem. I move back to Redding to a nice area nothing but problems.

I've been pillaged from my old 1990 yota they broke my foldout window (notorious for being broken into through it) they took alot but left my stereo w/blood all over my vinyl door panel! Damn scum... now I'm alarmed and armed! I don't leave my vehicles out of the garage unless they are in sight. At Buffalo Wild Wings I caught three idiots trying to get in my prerunner, chased em for blocks they wouldn't pull over like being a theif goes with being a p@%*y. Sorry for the rant and you're loss.

Wheels get stolen off cars all the time in my neighborhood, I'm kinda banking on the idea that no one is interested in old-ass 15" steelies. Knock on wood.

Couple years back someone busted the rear liftgate glass on my old 4runner to... wait for it... steal the original 1996 Toyota AM/FM radio/tape deck and some cheap aviators from the console. *Slow clap*. Yeah, thieves suck.

Keep your key behind the trim peice that had the 2 12v outlets on it. If you dont keep the screws in it(like i do) it stays put by the clips that it has and is actually a decent size hiding space
