I'd laugh if Toyota started getting reports of this one horribly unlucky truck that constantly keeps having its grill break in the same place.

Also if you know anyone that can get it wholesale like someone that owns a shop or body shop or at least works there have them place the order using a pro vin they don’t give resellers a hard time. I know bc I ordered one through my dads auto repair shop all they asked was for the vin and got it approved and arrived 2 weeks later

Unless originals are impossible to find I always prefer original items over replicas, unless the replica improves on the original in some way.

I had a knockoff STi Limited lip on my old STi and while it looked 90% of the part at 30% of the price, it always bugged me because it wasn't OEM fit / quality.

    Call me elitist, I guess.

It’s a corporate memo to all dealers, not one dealer.

Not all dealers follow that rule. Toyota does this with everything Pro, and have for years. Open market, then closed market, then open again.

    Every.

When I bought my '13 in late 2012 I could not get a dealer to sell me the gray beadlock wheels. Toyota wasn't even publishing the part number, but I ended up figuring it out. I tried to bribe a parts counter guy to order a set and he said he couldn't even order them. At the time even the black beadlocks were in very limited supply. TRDParts4U had like 4 left when I ordered. They had (2) wheels in house and then another two allotted and I was able to get the set they had.

Now I was able to easily source a set of black wheels and when I changed my mind a set of gray were only a few mouse clicks away.

I was able to get the Rigid fogs a few weeks ago, but some dealer websites were either listing the parts as unavailable or listing each item at $500 a piece, so who knows what's up there.

When the china/Amazon faux pro grille hit its peak it was hilarious. Guys posting pics with crooked letters and the OYO in a different shade of the other letters

Pro Grille was my first mod after a month of ownership and yes it was expensive but I love the look.

I haven't really followed the fake Pro grille thread, but I grabbed my OEM pretty much right when the first wave hit and never looked back.

It's different since it's an OEM, but when the fake part trend really kicked in (knockoff wheels, exhaust parts, etc) it hurt a lot of the makers of quality parts and that ultimately stinks. It's one thing to replicate something that's long out of production, because they're unobtanium to find, but like every company that knocks off BBS LM wheels these days. All that's doing is taking potential sales away from companies who make quality items and put the R&D time in.

When it's a replica of an OEM part, it's a different ballgame and I do totally understand it, but I'd just rather the real deal.

    Work in progress...
Hmmm, I have been looking at customizing my grille. I don't care for the Tacoma Pro grille. I haven't seen anything on the market that really says "I gotta have this." I am thinking about having one built for me.
