Underestimated the tide and accidentally dry docked the boat for a couple hours today :anonymous:

I have never in my life ever done that before:rolleyes::anonymous:.

There is a sand bar in front of our beach house where the ICW and the channel leading into the bay meet and guys all the time try and cut across there it is hilarious especially when a big ol cabin cruiser goes across there and gets stuck even at high tide it isn't very deep. A jet skier once at low tide came to a complete stop and went flying over the handle bars skipping across the sand. I paddled out there to check on him and he saw me coming and rushed to get going again so I guess he was ok just pride hurt.

Haha I know we were a hot talking point for a lot of boaters today. Oh well.. none of us needed to go anywhere so it gave me plenty more time to continue fishing haha

So what do you do in a case like this? Just wait for the tide to come back in?

Yep or if you aren't beached too bad get someone to pull you off or if you are feeling froggy try and push it off. It doesn't take a lot of water to semi float a small skiff like @Dangerdave has so you could push it off the sand.

That is a lesson learned don't try and follow a boat with poling platform into the flats. Unless of course you have a soloskiff, ghenoe, or yak then you go further than them!

I'd love to have a larger poling skiff I could take the yak to the really skinny stuff. But I have been really looking at the inshore/offshore boats like Barker and Young27.

Yea we were fully beached (as in no water at all under the boat haha)

When that happens you just wait it out. Our boat is a flat bottom and can float in about 8 inches of water so we just hung out til the tide came back in. I’m not even certain a tow boat could have snatched us off the sand. We were being lazy when we anchored and knew we should have moved the boat but it didn’t really matter that much to us cause we planned on being out all day anyway.
