I have a few questions between the MX4, FiberMax, and G2.

Is really the main difference just the material/finish? They all appear to lock and fold the same.

Also, I do like how you can fold up the 3rd portion with the arms that hold it vertical.

For those who have one of these installed, does this 3rd portion fold up far enough so that I could put a large item (say a refrigerator) all the way up against the cab wall in the bed in order to properly secure it? Of would I have to completely removed the tonneau if I wanted to move something like that.

(if completely remove, how easy/quick is it to remove?)

I've had the HD and MX4, exactly the same except material and finish. If i remember correctly one of the differences is the amount of weight they can handle if you plan on using it as platform. I never needed to remove it because it fold up against the bulkhead. It may not be 100% of the bed, but its probably 98%. If you need to take it off, its very easy.

    Thanks!

Good video...hadn't seen that one yet. I like the new prop rod/3rd fold lock setup.

Wish they weren't so expensive, but I totally get why they are!

Yup, mine didn't have that type of prop rod. I have an undercover now, but no doubt BakFlip is the best of both worlds.

Folded mine up against the bulk head for large cargo many times. You lose about 8” from the bulkhead.

I have an MX4, when folded up against the cab, there is still about 6 to 8 inches of overhang from the front of the box. This has not been an issue for me even with the 5 foot box. If it needs to be removed it could be done quickly. There are 2 bolts at the front to hold it in place.

Reading the comments on that Youtube video, it seems the new prop rod won't be hitting the market until May. Kind of a long time considering it's not a redesign by any means....unless they're actually making some minor improvements to it as well to fix the leaking issues?

Color matched looks 10x better than black

You were right I got my MX4 last night that was drop shipped directly from Bak and it has the old style rod. Installed it last night and it is 10 times better than the OEM tri-fold we got with the truck!

I have the MX4. Chose this one because it can hold up to 400lbs carrying on top of the cover if needed and the tail gate can be closed with the cover closed. Best cover i've had/seen.

Ya I agree that's why I bought a 2nd one for the Taco, I've had one on my Duramax since new for 8 months now and it's great. We had a very wet snow a few days ago and there was a foot of wet heavy snow on it and it didn't blink!

If you call bakflip on the phone and tell them you’re a first time customer they’ll give you a discount. Heard it was like 20%.

I have the mx4. I work out of my truck and am constantly moving tools in and out, carrying drywall/plywood, and the cover has never gotten in my way. If you HAD to remove it to haul something you HAD to have right up against the bulkhead, its two knobs you unscrew by hand, very easy.

That’s what I did but I heard it was much cheaper via the aforementioned method.
