smashed this, broke that, covered it up with tape and paint
Well I'm doing a short course link setup so I am wanting to run primarily just the coilovers and tune it well and then add a bypass later on if I decide I really need it

No worries. You'd still run the same spring rate as someone doing a 2.5" CO. The calculator on filthy motorsports site is how you find a good start point to what rates you need.

Well a quick run looking for a jump yesterday was unsuccessful. Nothing in the hills behind my house. But did learn that shortening bumps down to 2" and down to 100psi I need to mess with bypass tuning again. Seemed to make a very noticeable difference in a bad way

A 3.0 Internal bypass would be gangster if you’re doing the short course link. You could get away with a 2.5 with the ibp. I think my springs are 350/450... or 250/350.. I forgot

Anyone know how to tell if a cv axle is oem? Things I can look for?

Lobes or ridges on the Tulip side is the easiest way. That being said some of the remans have the same thing. The remans though have rounded ends on the part closest to the Diff.

image.jpg Left is OEM, Right is reman

Thanks! I’m looking at some on eBay and asked the company if they were made with oem parts. They said “Yes the re manufactured axles are OEM parts they are from the original equipment of the vehicle”

It looks like the one you have on the right. Will that work or should I keep looking?

The interals of the one on the right were not compatible with TC axles, it was from a CVJ reman. CVJ told me their axles are OEM remans but again not compatible with TC axles. I asked them about it and they said it’s because some of theirs are from Japanese OEM parts. I think it is a lie. I bought a reman from Napa too to look at and it is the same thing as th CVJ. The only ones I found that will work the the TC shafts are actual Toyota OEM axles

this is correct. NAPA and similar have a higher (IIRC) spline count. Ran into the same issue with my old truck

Yep 30 vs 29 is what I was told. As far as I can tell the interior dimensions of the joints/housings are identical but the race and spider are a little different due to the different spline counts.

So theoretically you could use a oem race, spheres and cage in a reman housing. Also a OEM spider in a reman tulip. I may use the parts I have to put a spare together like that and see how it works.

How much did you end up paying for the actual oem one you got locally?

Couldn't you just go to a local pick-a-part to find an OEM set?
