Using motor, trans and transfercase from 2013 in a 2007?

I have a blown 2007 4.0 and i bought a used 2013 motor , trans, and transfercase from a friend who rolled his truck.i noticed the wireing harness is different.so can i put the top half of my motor (2007) on the block of the 2013? Also they both were 6 speed manual trans but are they the same trans?i really appreciate some help.thanks

 

Swap engines. Keep the harness which came with your truck. Use the headers which came with your engine. Done.

 

Any complications from the dreaded air pump? I have a 2007 too, and someday I'll be looking for an engine

This is on the 2013 head and its not on my 2007.will it make a difference.in amything?

 

Maybe get the pump and wiring from your buddy also even if you don't need it.

Pull the passenger side header off and take another picture please.

 

#3 hey torspd, did you meam the heads from my 2007. Or the headers?

 

The next alternative would be getting his ecu, but then that is a whole other can of worms.

 

Just the header off of the passenger head.

 

I appreciate all the advise amd help.ive swapped a engine prior to this on my 91 hilux but ive never had to mix amd match parts from 2 different motors.i think im in way over my head as far as swapping heads.any tips or advise on where that info can be found.i love wrenching on my own rigs but this is a tough one.i really dont want to biy more parts from the guy i got the 2013 motor from.im hoping i can franken_ motor both motors into one working motor.

 

Heres the passenger side of the 2007

 

The passenger exhaust header. Easy to pull off of the 2013 engine. Unless it is already off? Then just take a picture of the head's exhaust ports .

Pretty damn certain that the difference is in the valve cover.

 

Also remove the intake and filter assembly, off of the 2013, to get a better picture of the passenger valve cover.

 

I bought a gasket kit but i cant pick it up till tomorrow.thats when i was going to start disassebleing the motor.ill take pics and upload then tomorrow.sorry but im not prepared to do this today.heres the 2013 passenger side.ill post more tomorrow.thanks so much guys.

 

Before you get too far into this, ask your friend if the truck was upside down when it was all over. If it was, ask him how long the engine ran with it upside down. A fuel injected motor will run upside down, but it won't have any oil pressure. If it was running for more than a few seconds upside down, the bearings could be toast.

 

Even if it wasn't run while upside down, if it spent any time on it's side or upside down, oil could have gotten past the rings and be on top of the pistons. If you start it with oil on top of the pistons, it can bend the rods. If there's any doubt, pull the spark plugs and crank it over before you start it.

Pull that passenger header and valve cover. Swap your 2007 on. After doing a good inspection of the 2013 engine.
