I need help choosing rock sliders and getting them to Alaska. It's a frustrating part of living here.

I'm just about sold on BAMF sliders, and they ship XPOLogistics so I'm looking at 350$-ish in shipping.

    What else is out there?

    Theirs are pretty sweet too.

The easiest and cheapest shipping to 99501 is pretty much going to seal the deal I think. FedEx freight and UPS is out of the question. It's going to be LTL.

I don’t have a dog in this fight as I’m building my own, but if I were paying @Mobtown Offroad would get my money hands down. They have a great design

We just sold a set to Fairbanks three days ago. I can send two sets for about the same price as one set. One set from us to there was $400. If interested, I can ask the guy if he'd be okay me shipping his order with your order. I dont see why he'd be upset since he'd save a lot in freight as would you.

That’s your best bet. When I bought my sliders and bumper it was combined with another local guy to save us both on shipping. You can try getting in touch with Green Tree Fab in Anchorage, they are ordering a bunch of Pelfreybilt stuff for a group up here and you might be able to get in on that with reduced shipping as well.

Fairbanks is 6-8 hours further north. It would be cheaper to pick them up in Anchorage.

I might just wait and have a full set of skids and sliders put on a pallet and have Lynden put them in a container to Anchorage.

I feel your pain. I am from Hawaii and usually get the short end when it comes to shipping. Why not use a freight forwarder? Ship the sliders to a freight forwarder...(Seattle Portland Los Angeles) all have FF services.

That's what I was asking in the original post, who has the best prices on LTL.

XPO is a freight forwarder and so far has the best rates ive found.

Then you have already done your homework. I reckon the odd shape and the fact that it doesn't fit on a skid/pallet may play a role here.

    Good luck!

$350 is pretty expensive considering it is from California to Alaska which is the same side of the country... We're $50 more than that, from the opposite side of the country and going like you said, 6 to 8 hours north so we'd be even less to you most likely.

As for getting the best rate, an individual is not going to get a good rate. Rates are based on freight density and volume. We're shipping close to 1000 pallets a year so we're going to get a better rate than someone trying to ship one.

Check out freightquote.com. You'll need weights and dimensions on the freight but that is your best bet in trying to get a cheaper rate. You'll also need to make sure the vendor allows you to schedule your own freight. Some dont, we try not to because it adds more work on our end.

What are the shipping dimensions? I have a business address I can ship to.

Hey I know I’m way behind the curve on this post but maybe try local. Their are several fab shops in anchorage that can make you whatever you want. Green tree off road is my favorite best customer service and great guys. I live in fairbanks. Let me know what you did.
