The mini van is just the donor vehicle, the charger it comes with is a pretty common little unit from Ogura that can be used on just about anything you want. Some folks say it won't work, some do. We're gonna find out I guess.

Here's some info about the little beauty

A Toyota mid-engine Minivan that looks like this I should add.

This is one of Toyota's weirder cars. You could order it with a supercharger or a manual transmission. In a mini-van. Think about that for a second.

That sounds awesome, add it to a build thread somewhere so I can drool over it :D @Speedytech7 . Especially if that does work out, quite interesting

I'll document it well as I go along and make a write up if it isn't a total flop. Comparing pulley sizes to the previa crank pulley it looks like the 3RZ would turn it just a wee but faster than the previa at any given RPM so if it isn't a worn out unit about 6.6psi could be expected. And it looks like an A/C pulley from an 02 Corolla fits it so theoretically it could produce even more for about $20 as that brings the diameter from 114mm to 92mm.

I am greatful to have the time and spare vehicle to give this a go on. It was an idea cooked up while I was bored in an art class about 3 years ago. Should be some fun for sure :)

This will definitely be an intriguing experiment. If it works out it could change the supercharger game, at least for the DIY yota owners

Edit: Anyone else feel like this is some Mad Max kinda ingenuity :D

For the 3RZ boys at least I doubt you can mount this on the 5vz and get it to work.

Certainly wouldn't have much room for one on a 5VZ, the SC14 is both bigger in actual size and displacement than the TRD blower. But if you could find a place to put it, it would work all the same.

That's quite interesting since I haven't seen a lot of market for the 3rz, granted I look at the used marketplace. Maybe is should look into this on my 3rz... I'm sure Commifornia would love it :D

Wouldn't you be overheating the supercharger and get pretty much nothing? Even if you mess with pulley sizes

No, what gives you that idea. The engine size doesn't change the coefficient of temperature across the supercharger. Also this charger has been put on bigger v6s. Smaller SC pulley equals more boost and more heat but we don't know that it would be enough to warrant any concern yet, even at stock sizes. Also the way this is setup an intercooler can be used if it is indeed a concern (unlikely it would be)

This is a bigger an more robust charger than the TRD unit for the 5VZ

What gave me the idea is the rpms of the wormgears in the SC.

Oh they'd love to see that roll in I'm sure haha. The SC is already carb approved though, just have to get a carb stamp for my bracket once its made.

I don't see how you're getting different SC RPM from engine to engine, 3RZ crank pulley and 5VZ crank pulley are similarly sized. The previa crank pulley is only a little smaller than both. It would turn almost the same as on the previa. Plus all superchargers are inefficient at high engine RPM cause they can't keep up with the volume, but if you increase their SC RPM they can make more boost and keep up a little longer. It would take quite a bit of work to overheat one of these, especially since they aren't attached to the hot top of the engine like the TRD blower is. People put much smaller pulleys on the already much smaller TRD blower and it does just fine and doesn't overheat. I think it might be worth looking at a few diagrams or videos to get an idea of how they work.

Is it a rotex sc? The one that looks like a turbo charger?

Rotrex is a brand, like procharger... Those turbo looking ones are called Centrifugal Superchargers. This one is a Roots Style Supercharger, like the TRD unit for the 5VZ
